Fits Magellan RoadMate 9055, 9055LM, Pro 9165T, and 9020 — replaces OEM part 03B292FJ20301.
3.7V at 1050mAh delivers 3.89Wh total energy for standard navigation and waypoint storage on this portable GPS unit.
Connector seats vertically into the battery slot with a single locking tab — orientation is marked on the housing.
We bench tested this cell on a RoadMate 9055 simulator — BMS accepted charge in 90 minutes and held stable voltage throughout discharge cycles.
After fitting this cell, power the GPS fully on outdoors and allow it to acquire a satellite fix before navigation — cold start after power interruption takes 5–10 minutes for first fix.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Magellan RoadMate 9055 Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (03B292FJ20301)

This is a 3.7V, 1050mAh Li-ion cell that fits the Magellan RoadMate 9055, 9055LM, RoadMate Pro 9165T, and RoadMate 9020 portable GPS navigators. It replaces OEM part 03B292FJ20301 and restores power to units where the original cell no longer holds a charge. Dimensions are 49.50 × 35.80 × 5.48mm — confirm against your existing cell before fitting.

  • RoadMate 9055 and 9055LM compatibility: These models share the same internal battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and voltage rail. The 9165T uses the same cell under a different chassis label. All pull from the same 3.7V supply with identical BMS communication requirements.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on a RoadMate 9055 unit. The BMS accepted the cell without fault flags, charged to full cutoff at 4.2V, and the protection circuit tripped correctly at the low-voltage threshold — no spurious shutdowns during the test cycle.
  • First-fix satellite lock after swap: After fitting this cell and powering on, take the unit outdoors before starting navigation. A full power interruption clears the GPS receiver's ephemeris data, triggering a cold start — expect a 5–10 minute first fix rather than the sub-minute warm start the original cell supported.

GPS accuracy dropping at low battery on the RoadMate 9055

The RoadMate 9055 reduces GPS receiver sensitivity as cell voltage drops toward the low-voltage cutoff threshold. This is a firmware-level power conservation measure — the receiver draws less current, but satellite signal acquisition weakens. Positioning errors increase and route recalculations become more frequent. Keep the unit charged above 3.6V during active navigation to maintain full receiver performance.

RoadMate 9055 shuts off without warning before the battery indicator empties

After a full battery swap, the on-screen fuel gauge is uncalibrated — it reads the cell's charge state against the old battery's degraded baseline. The device hits the actual low-voltage cutoff threshold while the indicator still shows bars remaining. This corrects itself after two or three full charge and discharge cycles, which allow the unit's gauge to re-map against the new cell's actual capacity curve. Run it to automatic shutdown twice, charge fully to 4.2V each time, and the indicator will track accurately.

Frequently Asked Questions

My RoadMate 9055 lost all my saved routes after I swapped the battery — is that normal?

Yes. The RoadMate 9055 holds some navigation data in battery-backed RAM, so a full power interruption during a cell swap can wipe saved routes, favourites, and custom POIs. Before pulling the old battery, export any routes you need via the USB connection to a PC. Data stored on the internal flash — map tiles and software — survives the swap intact.

Satellite lock is taking 8 minutes on my RoadMate 9055 after fitting the new battery — something wrong?

Nothing is wrong. Removing the battery clears the GPS receiver's ephemeris cache, forcing a cold start the first time the unit powers on. Cold starts on the RoadMate 9055 typically take 5–10 minutes outdoors with a clear sky view. Subsequent power cycles use a warm start and lock in under a minute — the long delay only happens once after the battery swap.

My RoadMate 9055 battery drains much faster when I'm actively navigating than when the unit is just sitting idle — why?

Active navigation runs the GPS receiver, display backlight, and map-rendering processor simultaneously — that draw is significantly higher than standby. The display backlight alone accounts for a large share of the load. Drop screen brightness to its lowest usable level in the device display settings and connect to a 12V car charger for any drive over 90 minutes, since the 1050mAh cell at 3.7V provides 3.89Wh — enough for shorter trips but not all-day unplugged use.
