Fits TomTom VIA 1505T, VIA 1435TM, VIA 1505M, and VIA 1405M — replaces OEM part KL1.
3.7V, 900mAh lithium-ion cell delivers standard runtime for portable GPS navigation without map lag.
Connector seats flat into the battery bay with a single locking tab — no force needed.
We bench-tested this cell in a VIA 1505T; BMS accepted the pack on first insertion, voltage held stable under active navigation draw.
After installing this cell, power the GPS fully on outdoors and allow satellite acquisition before navigation — cold start takes 5–10 minutes after battery swap.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

TomTom VIA 1505T Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (KL1)

This 3.7V, 900mAh Li-ion cell replaces the original KL1 battery in the TomTom VIA 1505T and related VIA-series GPS navigators. It fits the VIA 1435TM, VIA 1505M, and VIA 1405M among others. Same voltage, same connector, same footprint as the factory cell.

  • VIA-series fit: These models share a common 3.7V single-cell architecture and the same KL1 connector pinout. The battery slides into the same bay with no modification. The BMS on each unit communicates over the same charge-control lines, so charge termination behaves identically to the original cell.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell on a VIA 1505T and confirmed the BMS accepted the charge cycle without fault, terminated at full voltage, and held standby draw at the expected level. No charge errors appeared on the status screen.
  • First-use GPS cold start: After fitting this cell, power the unit on outdoors before driving. The GPS performs a cold start after any full power interruption — first satellite fix can take 5–10 minutes versus under a minute for a warm start. Let it acquire a full fix before you rely on navigation.

Why the VIA 1505T shuts off without warning at low battery

The VIA 1505T reads the battery's state of charge from voltage alone. After a swap, the on-screen indicator is uncalibrated — it hasn't mapped this cell's discharge curve yet. The unit can show two bars, then cut off seconds later because the actual cell voltage crossed the low-voltage protection threshold before the indicator caught up. This corrects itself after one or two full charge-discharge cycles, which re-establishes the voltage-to-percentage mapping the device uses.

Saved routes and POIs missing after battery replacement

Some user data on VIA-series devices is held in battery-backed RAM, not flash storage. When the original battery is fully disconnected, power drops to zero and that volatile memory clears. Favourites and recent destinations saved to RAM — rather than the internal storage — will not survive a full power removal. Before swapping, export any critical routes via TomTom HOME or MySports Connect to a backup file, then reload after the new cell is fitted.

Frequently Asked Questions

My TomTom VIA 1505T took over 10 minutes to find satellites after I put in the new battery — is something wrong?

Nothing is wrong. Removing the battery causes a full cold start — the GPS almanac data (satellite position data cached in memory) is lost when power drops to zero. The receiver has to rebuild that cache from scratch, which takes 5–10 minutes on first fix outdoors with a clear sky view. Subsequent fixes after that will return to normal warm-start speed of under a minute.

The VIA 1505T still shows the low-battery warning and shuts off quickly even with the new cell fully charged — why?

The battery indicator reads voltage and maps it to a percentage using a stored discharge curve calibrated to the old, degraded cell. With a new cell that has a different discharge profile, the threshold for the warning fires earlier than it should. Run one or two full charge cycles — charge to 100%, use the unit until it powers off on its own, then recharge fully — and the device recalibrates its voltage-to-percentage curve.

My VIA 1505T drains much faster when I'm actively navigating compared to when it's just sitting on — what's causing that?

Active navigation runs the GPS receiver and the display simultaneously. The display at full brightness accounts for a significant share of current draw, and the GPS receiver pulls consistent power to maintain satellite lock and recalculate routes. Dropping screen brightness to 50% in Settings → Display is the single most effective step to reduce draw during navigation — on the 900mAh cell in this unit, that difference is measurable across a long trip.
