Fits Golf Buddy World Platinum, Platinum II, and Platinum Range Finder — replaces OEM part number LI-B03-02.
This 3.7V 1500mAh cell restores full charge capacity to the handheld GPS unit after the original battery loses performance.
Connector slides straight into the battery compartment with a single locking tab — no tools needed, vertical orientation only.
We bench-tested this cell in a World Platinum unit; the BMS accepted the new pack on first insert with no fault codes.
After fitting this cell, power the GPS fully on outdoors and allow it to acquire a satellite fix before navigation — cold start takes 5–10 minutes after power interruption versus under one minute for warm starts.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Golf Buddy World Platinum Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (LI-B03-02)

This is a 3.7V 1500mAh Li-ion cell that replaces the original LI-B03-02 battery in the Golf Buddy World Platinum and World Platinum II GPS rangefinders. It fits the handheld unit used on-course to display yardage to greens and hazards. Capacity is rated at 1500mAh (5.55Wh), matching the original specification.

  • World Platinum and World Platinum II compatibility: Both devices use the same 3.7V single-cell architecture, identical connector pinout, and share the LI-B03-02 part number — one cell fits across the entire lineup without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the World Platinum platform. The BMS accepted charge correctly, held the cutoff voltage at 3.0V, and showed no false low-battery flags during GPS receiver operation.
  • Cold-start satellite acquisition after swap: After fitting this cell, power the device on outdoors before heading to the first tee. A full power interruption clears the GPS receiver's ephemeris data, so the first satellite fix can take 5–10 minutes — subsequent warm starts run under a minute.

GPS accuracy dropping at low battery on the World Platinum

When cell voltage falls toward 3.2V, some GPS receivers reduce RF front-end sensitivity to stay within power budget. On the World Platinum, this can cause yardage readings to become less stable — positions may jump a few yards between updates. The fix is straightforward: replace the cell before it reaches that threshold rather than running it flat. A fresh 1500mAh cell holds the receiver at full sensitivity throughout a typical round.

World Platinum shutting off without a low-battery warning

A depleted original cell loses capacity but retains voltage long enough to suppress the low-battery indicator — then voltage collapses quickly once load hits. The device cuts off with no warning because the indicator threshold is calibrated to the original cell's discharge curve. A new cell restores that curve, so the warning appears at the correct point again. If the device still cuts off abruptly, check the cell voltage under load with a multimeter — it should stay above 3.4V during active GPS use.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Golf Buddy World Platinum saved courses disappeared after I swapped the battery — is that normal?

Yes. The World Platinum stores some data in battery-backed RAM, and a full power removal can wipe that volatile memory. Course data stored in flash is usually preserved, but any unsaved state or active round data will be lost. Before swapping, complete and exit any active round, then re-download courses via the Golf Buddy software after fitting the new cell.

The World Platinum is taking forever to find satellites after the battery replacement — what's happening?

This is a GPS cold start. Removing the battery clears the receiver's ephemeris cache — the timing data it uses to find satellites fast. Without that cache, the unit has to rebuild it from scratch, which takes 5–10 minutes outdoors with a clear view of the sky. Stand outside away from buildings and let it run; subsequent power cycles will lock in under a minute once the cache is rebuilt.

Why does my World Platinum drain faster when I'm actively navigating between holes compared to leaving it on standby?

Active navigation runs the GPS receiver at full polling rate plus keeps the display lit — both together draw significantly more current than standby mode, where the receiver updates less frequently and the display dims. We measured a clear current step up on the bench when switching from standby to active tracking mode. To extend use across a full 18-hole round, reduce display brightness in the settings menu and let the screen timeout engage between shots.
