Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Maginon DC-8300 / DC-8600 Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (02491-0028-01)
This is a 3.7V Li-ion cell rated at 1250mAh (4.63Wh), built to OEM specification for the Maginon DC-8300, DC-8600, DC-X, and DC-XZ6 digital cameras. It replaces part number 02491-0028-01. If your original cell no longer holds a full charge or the camera shuts down unexpectedly mid-shoot, this is the direct swap.
- DC-8300 / DC-8600 / DC-X / DC-XZ6 platform fit: These four models share the same battery bay dimensions and the same 3.7V voltage rail, which is why they run the same cell. The connector orientation and BMS contact layout match across the series — no adapter needed.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge passes on camera bodies from this series. The BMS handshake completed correctly, charge acceptance was stable, and the protection circuit triggered at the correct low-voltage cutoff point.
- First-install charge cycle on DC-8300: Insert the new cell and run a full charge through the camera body or the OEM charger before your first shoot. Some Maginon camera firmware needs that initial charge cycle to map the new cell's discharge curve and display accurate battery-remaining readings.
Flash recycling slow or incomplete on a fresh DC-8300 battery
The DC-8300's flash capacitor pulls a sharp burst of current to recharge between shots. Toward the end of a cell's usable life, internal resistance rises and the capacitor can't refill fast enough, causing longer recycle times or weak flash output. A new cell with lower internal resistance restores the current delivery the capacitor expects. If recycling is still slow after swapping the cell, charge the new battery to 100% before testing — a partially charged new cell can produce the same symptom.
Battery percentage jumping erratically on the DC-8300 display
A replacement cell has a slightly different discharge curve than the factory-fitted cell the camera firmware was calibrated against. The indicator reads voltage thresholds, not actual charge state, so it can skip from 80% to 40% with no warning. This is a firmware mapping issue, not a fault with the cell. Run two or three full charge-to-empty cycles and the displayed percentage will track more steadily as the camera firmware learns the new cell's curve.

Frequently Asked Questions
My DC-8300 shows a "no battery" or battery error icon right after I put in a new cell — is the battery faulty?
This is almost always the camera's BMS running an authentication check on the new cell before it accepts it. Remove the battery, reinsert it firmly, then place the camera on charge via the OEM charger or camera body for a full cycle. After one complete charge, power the camera on — the error clears in nearly every case once the firmware has run a charge handshake with the new cell.
The shot count on my DC-8300 is well below what I expected from a 1250mAh cell — what's draining it?
Flash recycle, continuous autofocus, optical zoom motor, and LCD brightness all draw current on top of the sensor load, and none of that is reflected in a basic mAh-to-shot-count estimate. Cold ambient temperatures also reduce effective capacity because Li-ion cells lose current output below around 15°C. To baseline the true shot count, shoot in moderate temperature with flash off and LCD brightness at mid-level — that gives you the cleanest read on actual cell capacity before adding accessory draw back in.
My DC-8300 is warm to the touch during video recording and the battery drains noticeably faster than during still shooting — is that normal?
Yes. Sustained video pulls heat from the imaging sensor, image processor, and stabilisation circuit simultaneously — a significantly higher combined draw than burst still shooting. That extra draw also generates more heat in both the cell and the camera body. Keep video clips under ten minutes in warm conditions to avoid thermal throttling from the camera body itself. If the cell voltage drops below 3.4V under that load, the BMS will cut power to protect the cell — recharge to full before the next session.
