Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Acer CR-8530 / CP-8531 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (02491-0028-01)

This is a 3.7V 1250mAh Li-ion battery for the Acer CR-8530 and CP-8531 digital cameras. It replaces OEM part numbers 02491-0028-01 and BT.8530A.001. Slot it into either camera body using the original battery door — no modifications needed.

  • CR-8530 and CP-8531 compatibility: Both models share the same battery bay dimensions, voltage rail, and connector pinout. One cell covers both cameras without any wiring or adapter changes.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on camera hardware, verified BMS handshake on first installation, and confirmed the charge indicator responds correctly through the full discharge curve.
  • First-install charge cycle on the CR-8530: Insert the new cell and run a full charge through the camera body or the original Acer charger before your first shoot. The CR-8530 BMS maps its battery-remaining display against a learned charge profile — skipping this step can cause the indicator to read inaccurately for the first few sessions.

Why the CR-8530 shows a dead-battery icon on a freshly charged replacement cell

The CR-8530 reads battery state by mapping terminal voltage against a stored discharge curve. A new cell that hasn't completed a charge cycle inside the camera body can present a resting voltage the BMS misreads as depleted. This is a calibration mismatch, not a faulty cell. Charge the battery fully inside the camera before shooting and the icon clears.

Battery percentage jumping erratically on the CR-8530 display

Erratic percentage readings happen when the camera's fuel-gauge algorithm is still mapping its thresholds to the new cell's discharge curve. The original cell trains the BMS over hundreds of cycles — a fresh replacement resets that learned profile. Run two full charge-to-discharge cycles through the camera body and the percentage steps will stabilise. After the second cycle, the indicator should track smoothly from 100% down to the low-battery cutoff at approximately 3.0V.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Acer CR-8530 shows "no battery" even though I just installed the new cell — is something wrong with it?

This is a BMS authentication check, not a faulty cell. The camera verifies the battery by reading its voltage and internal resistance on first contact, and a new cell can fall outside the expected window until it's been charged once. Insert the battery, connect the original Acer charger, and let it complete a full charge cycle inside the camera body. After that first charge, the "no battery" flag clears and the camera powers on normally.

The shot count on my CR-8530 is much lower than I expected from a 1250mAh cell — what's pulling the extra current?

The camera's rated shot count is measured under controlled conditions — single shots, no flash, display off between frames. In real use, flash recharge, continuous autofocus, and sustained LCD preview all draw current beyond that baseline. Flash capacitor recharge is the biggest single drain; each recycle pulls a short high-current burst that is not reflected in the spec shot count. Limit flash use or switch to natural light for extended sessions to keep draw closer to spec.

The flash on my CR-8530 isn't fully recycling between shots on the new battery — why?

Flash capacitor recharge draws a high current spike, and if the cell voltage sags under that load, the capacitor doesn't reach full charge before the next shot. This typically happens when the cell is below 50% charge — the internal resistance rises as voltage drops, limiting the current available to the capacitor circuit. Charge the battery to at least 80% before a flash-heavy session. If the problem appears on a full charge, check the terminal contacts on both the battery and the camera bay for oxidation and clean them with a dry cloth.
