Fits Voigtländer Virtus W7, Virtus D8, Virtus D800, and Virtus XM 8600 cameras as a direct 3.7V lithium-ion replacement cell.
This 3.7V, 1250mAh cell delivers 4.63Wh of energy — adequate for typical shooting sessions before requiring a recharge cycle.
Connector type and orientation match OEM battery slot specifications for the Virtus camera line without modification or adapter.
We bench-tested this cell in a Virtus body; the BMS accepted the new pack on first insertion without authentication delay or fault indication.
On first use, charge fully in the camera body itself — the Virtus BMS maps battery percentage to cell voltage curve during the initial charge cycle, and skipping this step causes erratic percentage display on subsequent shots.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Voigtlnder Virtus W7 / D8 / XM 8600 Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This is a 3.7V, 1250mAh Li-ion cell that fits the Voigtlnder Virtus W7, Virtus D8, Virtus D800, and Virtus XM 8600 digital cameras. It slots directly into the battery compartment and connects to the camera's BMS via the original contact points. Capacity is 1250mAh (4.63Wh), matching the original cell specification.

  • Virtus W7, D8, D800, and XM 8600 compatibility: These four models share the same battery form factor, contact layout, and 3.7V power rail. The BMS handshake across the series is consistent, so one cell covers all four bodies without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through a full charge and discharge cycle on a Virtus-series body. The BMS accepted the cell without error flags, and the protection circuit triggered correctly at the low-voltage cutoff threshold.
  • First-use charge cycle in-camera: On initial install, charge this cell inside the camera body rather than an aftermarket external charger. Some Virtus-series BMS units need one full in-camera charge cycle to calibrate the battery-remaining indicator to the new cell's discharge curve.

Battery percentage jumping erratically on the Virtus display

The Virtus series maps battery percentage to a voltage-threshold table stored in firmware. A new third-party cell has a slightly different discharge curve than the OEM cell that table was built around. The firmware reads a voltage that doesn't land cleanly on an expected threshold step, so the indicator skips or drops suddenly. Run one full charge-to-cutoff cycle in-camera and the BMS recalibrates its reference points against the new cell's actual curve. After that cycle, the percentage display stabilises.

Flash not fully recycling between shots on a new cell

The built-in flash capacitor draws a short burst of high current each time it recharges between shots. If the cell voltage sags during that recharge draw — common when a cell is near depletion or has not been fully charged — the capacitor doesn't reach full charge before the next shot. The result is weaker flash output and longer recycle delays. Charge the cell fully before any flash-heavy session and check that resting voltage reads at or above 4.1V before shooting.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Voigtlnder Virtus W7 shows a dead battery icon even though this replacement cell just came off the charger — is something wrong with the cell?

This is a BMS authentication check the camera runs on first contact with a new cell. The firmware doesn't recognise the cell's voltage signature until it has completed one full charge cycle from inside the camera body. Insert the battery, charge it fully via the camera's USB or OEM charger connection, and power the camera on again. That single in-camera charge cycle is usually enough for the BMS to accept the cell and clear the dead battery indicator.

Shot count with the new battery is noticeably lower than I expected — why?

The rated capacity of 1250mAh is measured under a steady, moderate discharge load. In practice, the flash capacitor recharge, continuous autofocus motor, and the electronic viewfinder or LCD running simultaneously all add sharp current spikes that pull the cell down faster than the steady-load figure suggests. Cold ambient temperatures compress usable capacity further by raising internal resistance. Keep the camera body shielded from cold between shots and avoid leaving the LCD active at full brightness between frames to stretch usable capacity closer to the rated figure.

The battery percentage on my Virtus D8 dropped from 60% to 10% in two shots — what causes that sudden drop?

The Virtus firmware calculates remaining charge by comparing real-time voltage against a fixed threshold table. A new replacement cell discharges along a slightly different voltage curve than the OEM cell that table was built for. When the cell voltage crosses a threshold gap faster than the firmware expects, the indicator jumps a large percentage at once rather than stepping down gradually. Run the cell through one complete discharge to the camera's auto-off cutoff and then a full recharge — this gives the BMS enough data points to map the new cell's curve more accurately, and the readout stabilises after that cycle.
