Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

MetroPCS Pinnacle 2 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This is a 3.7V Li-ion battery rated at 800mAh (2.96Wh) for the MetroPCS Pinnacle 2 smartphone. It replaces the original cell when the phone no longer holds charge, shuts down unexpectedly, or fails to power on. The battery matches the OEM voltage and form factor at 42.50 x 35.50 x 5.00mm.

  • Pinnacle 2 cell fit: The Pinnacle 2 uses a compact 3.7V single-cell architecture. This replacement matches that voltage rail and physical footprint, so the battery connector seats without modification and the BMS communicates normally with the phone's charge IC.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge under modem-active and screen-on loads. The BMS held cutoff voltage correctly and did not trip under the brief current spikes that occur during call connection.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first use after installation, run one complete discharge down to auto-shutdown, then charge uninterrupted to 100% before using the phone again. This lets the fuel gauge IC map the new cell's discharge curve and report accurate percentages from the start.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the Pinnacle 2 after a cell swap

This is a voltage cliff problem, not a capacity problem. At low state of charge, the new cell's internal resistance causes the voltage to drop sharply under modem or screen load — faster than the old degraded cell the fuel gauge was calibrated to. The phone's protection circuit reads that voltage drop as a critical low and shuts down, even though the reported percentage looks safe. One full discharge-charge cycle recalibrates the coulomb counter and moves the shutdown trigger to the correct point on the new cell's curve.

Percentage jumping erratically after fitting the replacement cell

The Pinnacle 2's fuel gauge IC stores a learned discharge curve from the previous battery. When a new cell goes in, that stored curve no longer matches actual cell behavior, so the reported percentage skips or reads incorrectly — sometimes dropping 10% in seconds or jumping back up. This is not a fault with the replacement battery. Charge the phone to 100%, allow it to drain fully to auto-shutdown without interruption, then charge back to 100%. After that single calibration cycle, percentage tracking stabilises.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Pinnacle 2 shuts off mid-call even though the battery shows 25% — is the new cell faulty?

The cell is not faulty — this is a voltage sag issue. During a call, the modem draws a sharp burst of current that pulls the cell voltage below the protection threshold before the fuel gauge can update the displayed percentage. The gap between the displayed percentage and actual usable voltage closes after one full discharge-charge calibration cycle. Drain the phone completely to auto-shutdown, then charge uninterrupted to 100%, and the shutdowns at false percentages will stop.

The Pinnacle 2 won't power on at all after the replacement battery sat in a drawer for a few months — what's happened?

Li-ion cells self-discharge in storage, and if the replacement cell dropped below roughly 2.5V, the BMS locked out to prevent cell damage. The phone will not respond to a normal power button press in this state. Connect the phone to a charger and leave it for 15–20 minutes without pressing anything — most charge ICs on this platform apply a low trickle current that nudges the cell back above the BMS re-enable threshold. Once the charge indicator appears on screen, the battery is recovering and will accept a normal charge.

The Pinnacle 2 feels warm near the battery compartment while charging the new cell — is that normal?

Some warmth during the first few charge cycles is expected. A fresh cell has slightly higher internal impedance than a broken-in one, so the charge IC dissipates a little more energy as heat while the cell conditions. If the phone becomes uncomfortable to hold or the charging indicator disappears and restarts repeatedly, disconnect and let it cool for ten minutes before reconnecting. After two or three full charge cycles, the impedance drops and the warmth during charging will reduce noticeably.
