Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Microsoft Lumia 630 / 636 / 638 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BL-5H)
This is a 3.7V, 1800mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the Microsoft Lumia 630, Lumia 630 Dual SIM, Lumia 636, and Lumia 638. It uses Nokia's BL-5H form factor and drops into the same battery bay without modification. Swap it when the original cell no longer holds a usable charge across a normal day.
- Lumia 630 / 636 / 638 platform fit: These four handsets share the same battery bay dimensions, contact layout, and BMS handshake tied to the BL-5H cell. One replacement covers all of them without adapter or firmware changes.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell on a Lumia 630 board and confirmed the BMS negotiated charge cutoff correctly at 4.2V. Discharge curve held steady through repeated load tests without early BMS trip.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first use after installation, run one full discharge down to auto-shutoff then charge uninterrupted to 100% before resuming normal use. This lets the coulomb counter recalibrate against the new cell's discharge curve and prevents erratic percentage readings.
Why the Lumia 630 reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap
The Lumia 630 uses a coulomb counter that builds its fuel gauge model from the cell it was calibrated against — the original BL-5H. A new cell has a slightly different internal resistance and discharge curve, so the counter's stored model no longer maps to actual state of charge. The result is percentage readings that are off by 10–20% or jump unexpectedly. One full discharge-to-shutoff followed by a full uninterrupted charge resets the counter's reference points against the replacement cell.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell
This happens when the cell voltage drops below the modem's or display's minimum operating threshold under peak load, even though the fuel gauge still shows charge remaining. A new cell with an uncalibrated fuel gauge will show 25% while actual voltage has already collapsed below 3.4V under screen-on or LTE load. The BMS cuts the circuit to protect the cell, and the phone shuts off without warning. After the first full calibration cycle described above, the reported percentage will align more closely with real cell voltage and shutdowns at false-high percentages should stop.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Lumia 630 shut off at 28% right after I put in the new battery — is the cell faulty?
Almost certainly not faulty — this is a fuel gauge calibration issue. The coulomb counter is still reading from the old cell's discharge curve, so it reports 28% while actual cell voltage has already dropped below the modem's minimum threshold under load. Run one full discharge to auto-shutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100% without using the phone. After that single cycle the percentage reading and real cell voltage will align.
The phone won't turn on at all after the replacement battery sat in a drawer for a few months before I installed it.
If the cell discharged below approximately 2.5V during storage, the BMS enters a lockout state and blocks normal charging to prevent damage to a deeply depleted cell. Plug the phone into a wall charger — not a PC USB port — and leave it for 30–45 minutes without pressing the power button. The charge IC will trickle current into the cell until voltage climbs back above the BMS re-enable threshold, after which the phone should power on normally.
Battery percentage jumps from 60% straight to 40% and then sits there — what's happening?
The fuel gauge IC is recalibrating mid-use against the new cell's actual discharge curve, which differs from the curve the counter was trained on. Until recalibration completes, voltage cliff points on the new cell appear as sudden percentage drops rather than a smooth decline. This is normal for the first two or three cycles after a cell swap. Complete one full uninterrupted discharge-to-shutoff and charge-to-100% cycle, and the jumping should stop by the second or third full cycle.
