Fits Nokia Lumia 630, Lumia 635, Lumia 636, and Lumia 638 — replaces OEM part BL-5H.
3.7V lithium-ion at 1800mAh delivers the same energy density as the original cell for this device.
Connector slides straight down into the battery slot with a friction fit; no mechanical latch required.
We ran full charge-discharge cycles on a Lumia 630 — the BMS accepted the cell without fault codes on insertion.
On first charge after installation, disable any fast-charge setting in the phone's settings menu for one complete cycle to let the fuel gauge IC recalibrate against this cell's discharge curve.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Nokia Lumia 630 / 635 / 636 / 638 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BL-5H)

This is a 3.7V, 1800mAh (6.66Wh) Li-ion replacement for the Nokia BL-5H cell. It fits the Lumia 630, 635, 636, and 638 — mid-range Windows Phone handsets that share the same removable battery bay and connector. If your original cell no longer holds a charge or swells, this is a direct swap.

  • Lumia 630 / 635 / 636 / 638 compatibility: All four models run the same 3.7V battery rail and use the BL-5H form factor with an identical three-contact connector. No adapter or modification is needed across any model in this group.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on a Lumia 635 unit. The BMS accepted the charge without false-positive overvoltage trips, and the phone completed a full cycle without thermal flags from the charge IC.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration after install: On first use after installation, run one complete discharge-to-low and charge-to-full cycle before relying on the battery percentage indicator. The Lumia fuel gauge IC is calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve — one full cycle lets it remap against the new cell before you trust the percentage readout.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the Lumia after a cell swap

This happens because the fuel gauge IC still holds the discharge curve of the old, degraded cell. When the new cell's actual voltage drops under screen or modem load, the IC misreads remaining capacity and triggers an emergency shutdown — often at 20–30% indicated charge. The fix is not to recharge immediately. Let the phone shut down, then charge uninterrupted to 100% and discharge fully once. After that single calibration cycle, the IC recalculates cutoff voltage against the new cell and shutdowns at false percentages stop.

Phone won't power on after the BL-5H sat in storage

Li-ion cells stored discharged can drop below the BMS protection threshold — typically 2.5V per cell. When voltage falls that low, the BMS locks out to prevent damage, and the phone shows nothing when you press power. Connect the phone to a wall charger — not a PC USB port — and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing anything. The charge IC trickle-charges the cell back above the BMS unlock threshold, usually around 3.0V, at which point the phone will boot normally.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Lumia 635 shows 25% battery and then shuts off without warning — is the new BL-5H cell faulty?

The cell is almost certainly fine. The Lumia's fuel gauge IC was calibrated to your old cell's discharge curve, so when the new cell's voltage sags under modem or screen load, the IC calls an emergency shutdown at an incorrect percentage. Run one full discharge-to-shutdown followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100%. That single cycle lets the coulomb counter remap against the new cell, and the false shutdowns stop.

The battery percentage is jumping around erratically — it jumped from 60% to 40% in minutes after I installed the BL-5H replacement.

Erratic percentage jumps are a fuel gauge IC recalibration symptom, not a sign of a bad cell. The IC is still reading against the stored discharge model of your original battery. Let the phone discharge to auto-shutdown, then charge to 100% in one uninterrupted session. The coulomb counter resets its baseline during that cycle, and percentage readings stabilise from the next discharge onward.

My Lumia 630 won't charge past about 80% since I swapped in the new BL-5H — charging just stops there.

This is typically the charge IC applying a conservative ceiling while it assesses the new cell's impedance on the first cycle. On the first charge after a cell swap, the IC sometimes flags high cell impedance — common on a new, uncycled Li-ion — and terminates early as a precaution. Discharge the phone down to 10% or below, then charge again to 100% with the phone powered off. Most Lumia units reach full capacity from the second charge cycle once the IC has one impedance reading logged against the new cell.
