Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Mindeo HMD40 / M40 — 3.85V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (1ICP9/44/75)
This 3.85V, 5100mAh Li-Polymer battery replaces the original pack in the Mindeo HMD40 and M40 handheld mobile data terminals. These scanners are used in retail, warehouse, and logistics environments for continuous barcode scanning and inventory data processing. Sourced to match the original cell dimensions of 91.20 × 61.10 × 11.70mm for correct fit inside the battery bay.
- HMD40 and M40 compatibility: Both models share the same battery bay geometry, connector pinout, and BMS communication protocol — one pack covers either device without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through repeated scan-trigger and wireless radio load sequences. The BMS handled combined inrush correctly and held stable voltage across the discharge curve without tripping under burst scan conditions.
- First-shift preparation: After installing, place the scanner in its cradle for a full charge cycle before starting work. Scan trigger inrush is highest when the cell is near minimum charge, and a fully pre-charged pack prevents false BMS trips at the start of the first shift.
Cradle charging error on a freshly installed pack
A new Li-Polymer pack shipped at storage charge — typically around 3.6–3.7V per cell — can cause some cradles to flag a charge fault if dock contact resistance is too high on first seat. Oxidation or debris on the battery terminals increases that resistance and confuses the dock's charge controller. Wipe the gold contacts on both the battery and the cradle with a dry cloth, then firmly reseat the scanner. If the error clears, the contact surface was the cause — not the cell.
Scanner drops wireless connection during rapid scan bursts
During high-frequency scan bursts, the imager and wireless radio draw simultaneously, creating a combined inrush spike that can sag cell voltage below the radio module's minimum operating threshold. An aged or partially discharged battery has higher internal resistance and sags faster under that combined load. This battery's 5100mAh capacity gives the cell more headroom to sustain voltage during burst activity. If dropouts continue after a full charge, check that cell voltage reads at or above 3.75V before starting a scan-heavy shift.

Frequently Asked Questions
My HMD40 won't read barcodes right after I swapped in the new battery — is something wrong with the pack?
Nothing is wrong with the pack. The imager needs stable voltage above a minimum threshold to fire correctly, and a new Li-Polymer cell ships at storage charge — not full charge. Place the scanner in its cradle and run a complete charge cycle before use. Once the cell reaches 4.2V, the imager should trigger and read normally.
The scanner feels warm after a full warehouse shift — should that concern me?
Mild warmth is normal. The HMD40 housing is compact, and sustained scan-plus-wireless draw generates heat that has limited surface area to dissipate. The pack's BMS monitors cell temperature and will throttle output if internal temperature reaches the protection threshold. If the housing becomes too hot to hold comfortably, let the device cool for 10 minutes and check that the battery contacts are clean and seated flush — a poor connection increases resistance and generates additional heat.
This battery seems to drain faster than expected on busy pick-and-pack shifts — what drains it most?
On the HMD40, the two largest draws are the wireless radio polling and the imager firing on each trigger pull. High scan-burst frequency combined with continuous Wi-Fi or Bluetooth keep-alive packets compound the drain faster than light intermittent use. Reducing wireless polling intervals in the device settings — if your WMS allows it — noticeably extends endurance between charges. If drain is still heavier than expected, confirm cell voltage is at 4.2V at shift start; beginning below 4.0V cuts usable capacity significantly.
