Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Datalogic PBT9500 / PM9500 Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (RBP-9000)
This 3.7V, 3350mAh Li-ion cell replaces the original pack in the Datalogic PBT9500, PM9100, PM9300, and PM9500 handheld barcode scanners. It matches the OEM connector, voltage rail, and BMS communication profile used across this scanner family. Capacity is rated at 3350mAh (12.4Wh) — same as the factory spec.
- PBT9500 and PM-series compatibility: These models share the same battery bay dimensions, 3.7V single-cell architecture, and BMS handshake protocol. The RBP-9000 footprint fits all four variants without modification to the housing or contacts.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through charge and discharge cycles on a PBT9500 unit. The BMS negotiated correctly with the host device, balancing cut-in and cut-off thresholds without triggering a false low-battery shutdown during scan bursts.
- First-shift preparation for pick-and-pack use: After installing, seat the scanner in its cradle and run a full charge cycle before the shift starts. The scan trigger inrush current peaks when the cell is near minimum voltage — starting the first shift on a fully charged pack prevents BMS trips during rapid scanning sequences.
Cradle showing a charging error on a new pack
New packs sometimes ship with oxidation or light contamination on the contact pads from packaging. The cradle reads contact resistance above its handshake threshold and flags it as a charging fault rather than a cell fault. Wipe the gold contacts on the battery and the cradle dock with a dry lint-free cloth, then reseat the pack firmly. If the error clears, the cell is charging normally — the cradle will show a solid charge indicator within a few seconds of a clean connection.
Scanner dropping wireless connection during rapid scan bursts
The PBT9500 draws from the same cell simultaneously for the imager, the wireless radio, and the onboard processor. During rapid back-to-back scans, the combined inrush can cause a momentary voltage sag below the radio module's minimum operating threshold — the radio resets mid-burst and drops the connection. This is more common when the cell is below 30% charge. Keeping the pack above 3.6V under load eliminates most mid-shift disconnection events.

Frequently Asked Questions
My PBT9500 keeps dropping its wireless connection mid-scan even with the new battery — what's causing it?
The imager and wireless radio pull from the same cell at the same time during rapid scanning. When the battery dips below roughly 30% charge, the combined inrush causes a voltage sag that resets the radio module. This isn't a defective battery — it's a load-spike behaviour specific to this scanner's architecture. Keep the pack above 3.6V under load by docking the scanner during breaks, and the disconnections will stop.
The cradle is showing a charging error on the new pack but the old battery charged fine — is the pack faulty?
Almost always, it's contact resistance, not a cell fault. New packs can carry light oxidation or residue on the gold contact pads from packaging. Remove the battery, wipe both the pack contacts and the cradle dock pins with a dry lint-free cloth, and reseat firmly. The cradle should show a solid charge indicator within a few seconds of a clean connection — if it does, the pack is fine and charging normally.
The new battery runs shorter shifts than expected in a high-scan-volume warehouse environment — why?
High scan-burst frequency combined with continuous wireless polling keeps the cell under sustained draw the entire shift, which burns capacity faster than low-frequency use. The 3350mAh rating reflects standard discharge conditions — dense pick-and-pack workflows with back-to-back scans and active radio can draw significantly more average current than that baseline. Check whether the scanner's wireless polling interval is set to maximum in the device configuration — reducing it where the network allows cuts idle radio draw and extends each charge cycle noticeably.
