Fits Minn Kota iPilot Link Remote BT, part number APP00176 or APP176180321450.
3.7V 1200mAh Li-Polymer cell restores full wireless range to the remote control unit.
Connector slides into the battery slot with polarity marked on the housing; verify + faces outward before closing the compartment door.
We tested this cell in a live iPilot Link remote; the BMS accepted the charge cycle and the Bluetooth pairing held stable across multiple transmit sequences.
On first install, press each remote button firmly five times to verify the IR output strength — a weak response means the old cell was already marginal and needs immediate replacement.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

MINN KOTA iPilot Link Remote BT — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (APP00176)

This 3.7V 1200mAh Li-Polymer battery replaces the internal cell in the MINN KOTA iPilot Link Remote BT and iPilot Link (2018) wireless remote. The remote controls trolling motor speed, direction, and GPS positioning via Bluetooth. When the original cell degrades, responsiveness drops and Bluetooth range shrinks — this cell restores normal operation.

  • iPilot Link BT and 2018 compatibility: Both remotes share the same Li-Polymer cell format, voltage rail, and connector footprint. The 52 × 34 × 7mm cell fits the cavity without modification, and the BMS accepts charge from the OEM dock at the correct 3.7V nominal.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the iPilot Link BT remote and confirmed the BMS completed a full charge cycle without error. Bluetooth pairing held stable at full charge, and button inputs registered consistently across the remote's range.
  • Dock charging tip for iPilot Link remotes: After installing this cell, seat the remote fully in the OEM charging cradle and confirm the charge indicator activates. A loose dock connection will show a false charge status — the LED lights but current transfer is incomplete, leaving the cell partially charged.

Why the iPilot Link remote loses Bluetooth range before the battery reads empty

Li-Polymer cells maintain a relatively flat discharge curve through most of their capacity, then voltage drops quickly near the end. The iPilot Link remote's Bluetooth transmitter needs a stable voltage threshold to sustain normal output power. Once the cell dips below that threshold — even while still showing partial charge on the indicator — signal strength falls and effective range shrinks. Replacing the cell at that point, rather than running it to zero, prevents the BMS from entering deep-discharge lockout.

Remote unresponsive immediately after cell replacement

This is almost always a polarity error. The iPilot Link BT cell connects via a JST-style lead, and reversing positive and negative terminals prevents the circuit from powering on at all — no LEDs, no Bluetooth, no button response. Disconnect the cell, check the connector orientation against the PCB markings, and reseat with the correct polarity. Once connected correctly, place the remote on the dock; the charge indicator should activate within a few seconds at 3.7V nominal.

Frequently Asked Questions

My iPilot Link remote still won't turn on after I put in the new battery — what did I do wrong?

The most likely cause is a reversed connector. The Li-Polymer cell uses a polarised JST-style lead, and if positive and negative are swapped, the remote draws zero power — no LEDs, no Bluetooth signal, nothing. Disconnect the cell, check the PCB for + and − markings, and reseat the connector in the correct orientation. Once corrected, the charge indicator on the dock should light within a few seconds.

The iPilot Link remote works but I have to stand much closer to the motor than I used to — is this a range issue or a battery issue?

It's a battery issue. When the Li-Polymer cell voltage sags below the Bluetooth transmitter's minimum output threshold, the radio still fires but at reduced power — so the remote functions at close range but drops commands further out. The cell has crossed into the low-voltage tail of its discharge curve. Replace the cell and fully charge it in the OEM dock before your next use; effective range returns once the cell holds a stable 3.7V.

The replacement battery in my iPilot Link remote seems to drain much faster than expected — what causes that?

A stuck or partially depressed button is the most common cause — it keeps the remote's circuit active and draws current continuously even when you're not using it. Remove the cell and inspect each button to confirm none are jammed in the housing. If all buttons move freely, check that the remote isn't inadvertently left in an active pairing or wake state; power the remote off fully after each trip to stop the parasitic draw.
