Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Mobistel Touch EL580 / EL500 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BTY26163)
This is a 3.7V, 700mAh Li-ion cell for the Mobistel Touch EL580 and EL500 smartphones. It replaces OEM part BTY26163 directly. If your phone no longer holds a charge or shuts down unexpectedly, this is the cell that failed.
- EL580 and EL500 shared platform: Both models run the same voltage rail and use the same physical connector with an identical BMS handshake profile. One cell covers both devices without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full charge and discharge on the EL580 platform. The BMS accepted the cell on first connection, charge termination triggered correctly at 4.2V, and the protection circuit tripped as expected under over-discharge conditions.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first installation, run the phone down to automatic shutdown without plugging in early, then charge to 100% uninterrupted. The EL580's fuel gauge IC is calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve — one full cycle resets that reference and stops erratic percentage readings.
Why the EL580 reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap
The EL580 uses a coulomb counter that tracks charge flow relative to a stored discharge curve from the original cell. A new cell has different internal resistance and a slightly different voltage-to-capacity relationship. Until the IC sees one complete discharge cycle on the new cell, it reads percentage against the wrong curve. This shows up as percentage jumps, early low-battery warnings, or the indicator freezing near 50%. One full discharge-to-shutdown and uninterrupted charge resolves it.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell
This is a voltage cliff problem, not a capacity problem. At low state of charge, the modem transmitting or the screen at full brightness pulls enough current to drop cell voltage below the BMS cutoff threshold — even though the percentage display suggests charge remains. The BMS then cuts output to protect the cell, and the phone shuts off hard. After the fuel gauge IC completes its first full calibration cycle, the shutdowns typically stop because the percentage reading now accurately reflects the usable voltage window. If shutdowns continue after calibration, check that the cell connector is fully seated — a partial connection raises contact resistance and worsens voltage sag under load.

Frequently Asked Questions
My EL580 won't turn on at all after the replacement battery sat in a drawer for months — is the cell dead?
Probably not dead, but the BMS has locked out. If the cell discharged below 2.5V in storage, the protection circuit blocks output to prevent damage to an over-discharged cell. Connect the phone to a wall charger — not a PC port — and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing the power button. The charge IC will trickle current into the cell until voltage rises above the BMS re-enable threshold, typically around 2.9V, at which point the phone will resume normal charging.
The percentage on my EL580 keeps jumping around — it shows 60%, then suddenly drops to 30% without warning.
This is the fuel gauge IC recalibrating against the new cell's discharge curve. The coulomb counter in the EL580 was trained on the original cell's internal resistance profile, and the new cell behaves differently enough that the IC loses confidence in its state-of-charge estimate. Run the phone from 100% down to automatic shutdown without any mid-cycle top-ups, then charge fully to 100% without interruption. After that single complete cycle, the IC rebuilds its reference curve and the percentage readings stabilise.
The EL580 feels warm near the battery compartment during the first few charges after installing the new cell — is something wrong?
This is normal on the first few charge cycles with a new high-impedance cell. A fresh Li-ion cell has higher internal resistance than a broken-in one, so the charge IC dissipates more energy as heat during the constant-current phase. The warmth should reduce noticeably after three to five full charge cycles as the cell's internal resistance settles. If the phone becomes hot enough to be uncomfortable to hold, or if charging stops before reaching 100%, disconnect immediately and check that the battery connector is fully latched — a partial connection creates resistive heating at the contact point.
