Fits Navigon 72 Easy and 72 Plus Live GPS navigators replacing OEM part 541384120003.
This 3.7V 1000mAh lithium-ion cell restores full navigation runtime on the handheld GPS unit.
Connector slides straight into the battery slot with a single locking tab engagement.
We bench-tested this cell in the 72 Easy platform — BMS initialized cleanly on first insertion with no fault codes or voltage cutoff errors.
After fitting this cell, power the GPS fully on outdoors and allow it to acquire a satellite fix before navigation use — GPS performs a cold start after power interruption that takes 5–10 minutes for first fix versus under a minute for subsequent warm starts.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Navigon 72 Easy / 72 Plus Live — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (541384120003)

This 3.7V 1000mAh lithium-ion cell replaces the original battery in the Navigon 72 Easy and 72 Plus Live portable GPS navigators. It matches the OEM spec at 3.7Wh and fits the 53.26 × 34.16 × 5.68mm battery bay directly. When the original cell degrades, the unit either shuts off mid-route or fails to hold charge long enough for a useful journey.

  • 72 Easy and 72 Plus Live fitment: Both models share the same battery bay dimensions, connector orientation, and voltage rail. The BMS in each unit reads the same charge profile, so one cell covers both without any modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran the cell through full charge and discharge cycles on a 72 Easy unit. The BMS accepted the charge curve without fault codes, and the protection circuit tripped correctly at the low-voltage cutoff threshold.
  • Cold-start satellite acquisition after fitting: After any full power interruption, the GPS receiver loses its ephemeris data and must perform a cold start. Take the unit outdoors immediately after powering on and hold it stationary — first satellite fix can take 5–10 minutes. Subsequent warm starts drop back under a minute once the almanac rebuilds.

GPS accuracy reducing as battery charge drops

Some Navigon units step down GPS receiver sensitivity at low charge to reduce current draw. This shows up as position drift or wider accuracy circles on the map before the unit actually shuts off. The receiver is still running, but it has stopped using weaker satellite signals to conserve power. Keeping the cell above 3.5V under load maintains full receiver sensitivity.

Unit shutting off without the low-battery warning appearing

After a battery swap, the fuel gauge in the 72 Easy is uncalibrated against the new cell. The unit calculates remaining charge from voltage, and a fresh cell may have a slightly different discharge curve than the original. This means the voltage threshold for shutdown can be reached before the on-screen indicator shows critical. Run two full charge-to-shutdown cycles to let the unit recalibrate its voltage-to-charge mapping against the new cell.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Navigon 72 Easy lost all my saved routes after I swapped the battery — is that normal?

Yes. The 72 Easy stores some route and POI data in RAM that requires continuous battery power to retain. A full power removal — which happens during a battery swap — clears that volatile memory. Saved favourites stored to internal flash are usually unaffected, but active routes and recently entered destinations will be gone. Re-enter critical destinations before your next journey.

The GPS took nearly 10 minutes to find a signal after I fitted the new battery — is something wrong with the cell?

Nothing is wrong with the battery. After a full power interruption, the GPS receiver has no stored satellite position data (ephemeris) and must complete a cold start from scratch. That process takes 5–10 minutes outdoors with a clear sky view. Move to an open area, hold the unit stationary, and do not start navigation until the accuracy circle on-screen tightens down — subsequent power cycles will lock in under a minute.

My 72 Easy is showing good battery level but the map is jumping around and position accuracy is poor — what's happening?

This points to the GPS receiver running in a reduced-sensitivity mode, which some Navigon units activate as cell voltage sags under load even before the battery indicator reads low. Check the actual cell voltage under load — if it is dropping below 3.5V during active navigation with the display at full brightness, the receiver is throttling satellite signal processing. Reduce display brightness to lower current draw, or charge the unit fully and recheck accuracy at 100%.
