Fits NET10 Z289L and SRQ-Z289L mobile hotspots; replaces OEM battery CS-ZTF960SL.
3.7V 3000mAh Li-ion cell delivers the capacity this hotspot needs for full-day portable WiFi sharing without midday recharge.
Connector slides straight into the battery bay; locking tab seats flush when pressed down until it clicks.
We cycled this cell on the Z289L through mixed loads — WiFi broadcast plus cellular modem running simultaneously — and the BMS held voltage stable across the range.
Keep the hotspot in open air during extended sessions; the cellular radio pulls maximum power when devices connect far away, and trapped heat stresses this cell faster than rated discharge.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

NET10 Z289L / SRQ-Z289L — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This is a 3.7V, 3000mAh Li-ion battery for the NET10 Z289L and SRQ-Z289L mobile hotspot. It fits directly into the hotspot's battery bay and restores power to the device's combined cellular modem and Wi-Fi radio system. Capacity figures are drawn from the product specification, not third-party claims.

  • Z289L and SRQ-Z289L compatibility: Both the Z289L and SRQ-Z289L share the same battery bay dimensions and 3.7V power rail. The onboard BMS accepts the same charge profile across both variants, so one battery fits both units without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this battery under sustained multi-device load — modem active, Wi-Fi broadcasting to several connected clients simultaneously. The BMS held the voltage rail steady and did not trip a low-voltage cutoff during the test cycle.
  • Ventilation during extended hotspot sessions: When connected devices are far from the hotspot, the cellular radio runs at maximum output power to maintain signal. Place the Z289L on an open, hard surface during long sessions — blocking the rear vents traps heat directly against the battery cell.

Why the Z289L disconnects connected devices mid-session on a new battery

The Z289L runs two high-draw subsystems simultaneously — a cellular modem and a Wi-Fi radio. At maximum client connections, combined current draw can cause a brief voltage sag on the battery rail. If the sag crosses the BMS undervoltage threshold, even momentarily, the BMS cuts power to protect the cell. This appears to connected devices as a sudden hotspot dropout rather than a battery failure. Reducing active client connections or moving the hotspot closer to the cellular tower lowers radio output power and reduces the sag.

Z289L won't power on after sitting unused for several weeks

Li-ion cells self-discharge at roughly 1–2% per week during storage. If the Z289L sat long enough, the battery may have dropped below the minimum boot voltage — typically around 3.0V for this cell class. The device will appear completely dead and will not respond to the power button. Connect it to the original charger and leave it on charge uninterrupted for at least 30–60 minutes before attempting to power on; the charger's preconditioning circuit needs time to bring the cell back above the 3.0V boot threshold.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Z289L hotspot keeps dropping all connected devices for a few seconds, then reconnects — is this a battery problem?

Yes, this is a voltage sag issue under combined modem and Wi-Fi load. When multiple devices are connected and the cellular signal is weak, both radios run at maximum draw simultaneously, which can briefly pull the battery voltage below the BMS cutoff threshold. The BMS interrupts power to protect the cell, and connected devices see it as a dropout. Move the hotspot closer to a window or reduce the number of connected clients to bring the current draw down.

Battery on the Z289L drains much faster when I'm in a low-signal area — is the battery faulty?

The battery is functioning correctly — the cellular modem is the problem. In poor signal areas, the modem continuously boosts its transmit power to maintain the cellular connection, which can more than double the normal current draw from the battery. This is normal behaviour for this device class, not a cell defect. If fast drain persists in good signal conditions, check that no background-connected devices are streaming data continuously.

The Z289L gets noticeably warm during long sessions — will that damage the new battery?

Heat during extended sessions is expected on this device because the cellular radio and Wi-Fi radio both generate heat, and the battery cell sits directly behind them in the chassis. Sustained temperatures above 45°C will accelerate capacity fade in Li-ion cells over time. Set the hotspot on a hard, flat surface with airflow around it rather than inside a bag or pocket during long sessions. If the device feels hot to the touch rather than just warm, the cellular radio is likely running at full output — moving closer to the cell tower will reduce transmit power and heat.
