The NSC-M10's charge IC applies a conservative current limit when it encounters a cell pack it has not previously profiled. On the first charge cycle, the termination voltage may be set slightly below the full 12.6V end-of-charge threshold, causing the indicator to plateau at 90–95%. This is a one-cycle behaviour tied to the charge IC's new-cell conditioning logic. Run one complete charge-discharge cycle and the IC will recalibrate its termination point — the indicator should reach 100% on the second charge.

The device's BMS compares cell voltage against a threshold calibrated to the original OEM chemistry. A new replacement pack needs one full charge-discharge cycle before the BMS accepts its voltage signature as valid. Until that cycle completes, the device may alarm even when the pack is fully charged. Run one complete cycle — charge to termination, then operate on battery until the device indicates low — and the alarm should clear on the next charge.

The NSC-M10 won't power on after the battery sat unused for a few months — is the pack dead?

Li-ion cells self-discharge during storage, and if the pack dropped below the NSC-M10's BMS recovery threshold (typically around 2.5V per cell), the protection circuit will have locked the pack out. Connect the device to mains power and leave it on charge for at least two hours before attempting to boot on battery. The charger will apply a trickle current that brings the cells back above the recovery threshold and re-initialises the BMS.

The NSC-M10 is shutting off unexpectedly during use, but the battery shows as charged — what causes this?

During the first 10 cycles, new cells have not yet reached full electrochemical capacity, and their internal resistance is slightly higher than it will be at maturity. The NSC-M10's load profile during active clinical use can trigger the BMS low-voltage cutoff under peak draw conditions, even when the resting cell voltage looks normal. This settles as the cells condition through use. To confirm the pack is at fault and not the device, check the resting cell voltage — it should sit above 10.0V when the device reports a charge; if it reads below that, run one more full cycle before clinical deployment.
