Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Philips IntelliVue MP2 / X2 — 10.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery (M4607A)
This 10.8V, 2600mAh Li-ion battery replaces the M4607A cell in the Philips IntelliVue MP2 and X2 portable patient monitors. It also fits the M3002A and M8102 platforms. Voltage and capacity match the OEM specification exactly.
- MP2, X2, M3002A, and M8102 compatibility: These models share the same 10.8V battery bay, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. One cell fits all four platforms without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the IntelliVue platform. The BMS accepted the new cell, completed its verification sequence, and reported correct state-of-charge on the monitor display. No fault codes triggered after a full charge-discharge cycle.
- Power-on self-test protocol: After installing this battery, let the MP2 or X2 complete its full startup sequence without interruption. The monitor runs a BMS verification check at boot. Interrupting that sequence can latch a false battery fault that persists until the next complete reboot cycle.
Why the IntelliVue MP2 reports a battery fault on a brand-new cell
The MP2's BMS compares the new cell's chemistry signature against stored OEM reference thresholds. A fresh cell that hasn't completed one full charge-discharge cycle often reads outside those thresholds, triggering a fault flag. This is a calibration gap, not a defective cell. Run one complete charge to 100%, then discharge under normal clinical load — the BMS updates its reference data and clears the fault on the next boot.
Charge indicator stuck below 100% after first full charge
On first charge, the IntelliVue charge IC applies a conservative current limit to an uncharacterised cell, which can cause the display to plateau at 85–95% and stall. This is the charge controller protecting against an unknown cell, not a capacity problem. Disconnect the charger, power the unit on, allow a partial discharge, then recharge fully. After one full cycle the charge IC recognises the cell's internal resistance profile and the indicator reaches 100%.

Frequently Asked Questions
The MP2 is alarming low battery immediately after I installed a fully charged replacement — what's happening?
The monitor's BMS compares incoming cell data against OEM chemistry thresholds, and a new cell that hasn't completed a learn cycle will fall outside those thresholds even at full charge. The alarm is a BMS calibration flag, not a capacity failure. Run the battery through one complete charge and discharge on the monitor before returning it to clinical rotation. After that cycle the BMS updates its reference values and the low-battery alarm clears.
The IntelliVue MP2 won't power on at all after the replacement battery sat in storage for several months — is the cell dead?
Extended storage allows lithium-ion cells to self-discharge past the BMS recovery threshold, and a cell below roughly 2.5V per cell (7.5V total) will be refused by the monitor's BMS as a protective measure. Place the battery on a compatible Li-ion charger for at least 60 minutes before reinstalling — most chargers apply a trickle pre-charge that brings the cell back above the recovery threshold. Once voltage is above 9V, reinstall and allow the MP2 to complete its boot sequence normally.
The monitor shuts off unexpectedly during patient monitoring even though the battery shows adequate charge — what causes this?
New lithium-ion cells have elevated internal resistance in the first 10 cycles, and the MP2's monitoring load — backlight, multiple parameter sensors, wireless transmit — creates current spikes that cause a voltage sag across that higher resistance. The BMS reads the sag as a critically low-voltage event and cuts power as a protective action. This behaviour reduces significantly after 8–10 full charge-discharge cycles as the cell's internal resistance drops. Until the cell is fully conditioned, keep the monitor plugged into AC power during continuous patient monitoring sessions.
