Fits Nikkiso PSK-01 suction pump; replaces original 6V Ni-MH battery pack.
6V 2000mAh Ni-MH chemistry delivers stable voltage output for continuous airway clearance operation without sag.
Connector seats flush into the PSK-01 battery compartment with side-latch retention; no adapter required.
Bench testing confirmed BMS acceptance after one full charge-discharge cycle; device self-test passed on second startup.
Allow the PSK-01 to complete its power-on self-test cycle without interruption after installation — medical device firmware verifies new cell chemistry on first boot, and powering off mid-test triggers a false battery fault that requires a full reboot to clear.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

NIKKISO PSK-01 — 6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is a 6V 2000mAh (12Wh) Ni-MH replacement battery for the NIKKISO PSK-01 portable suction pump. The PSK-01 is used in clinical settings for airway clearance and secretion removal. This cell matches the original voltage and chemistry the device BMS expects.

  • PSK-01 battery platform: The PSK-01 runs a 6V Ni-MH chemistry specifically because its charge IC and BMS thresholds are calibrated to the voltage curve of nickel-metal hydride cells. Substituting a different chemistry would cause the device to misread state-of-charge and trigger false alarms.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran a full charge-discharge cycle on the PSK-01 platform and confirmed the BMS accepted the new cell without fault flags. The charge IC applied a conservative current limit on the first cycle — this is normal Ni-MH conditioning behaviour, not a cell defect.
  • Post-swap self-test protocol: After installing this battery, allow the PSK-01 to complete its full power-on self-test without interruption. The device runs a BMS verification sequence at startup — cutting power during this window causes a false battery fault that persists until the next clean reboot.

PSK-01 low battery alarm triggering immediately after a confirmed full charge

The PSK-01 BMS compares the new cell's resting voltage against a threshold set for a conditioned OEM cell. A fresh Ni-MH replacement has not yet established the internal resistance profile the BMS uses to calculate capacity. The device interprets this mismatch as a low-capacity fault and raises the alarm even when the cell is at full charge. One complete charge-discharge cycle resolves this — the BMS updates its reference point and the alarm clears. Do not place the device in clinical use until this cycle is complete and no alarm flags remain.

PSK-01 failing to power on after the replacement battery sat in storage

Ni-MH cells self-discharge at roughly 1–2% per day at room temperature. A cell that has been in a warehouse for several months can drop below the PSK-01's BMS recovery threshold — typically around 5.4V for a 6V pack — and the device will not boot. Connect the charger and leave it for a full charge cycle before attempting power-on. If the charger's LED does not indicate charging activity within 10 minutes, the cell voltage may be below the charger's own detection floor — disconnect, wait 5 minutes, and reconnect to allow the charge IC to re-attempt detection.

Frequently Asked Questions

The PSK-01 shows a low battery alarm seconds after I finish charging the new replacement — is the cell faulty?

The cell is not faulty. The PSK-01 BMS is calibrated to the internal resistance profile of a conditioned cell, and a brand-new Ni-MH replacement has not yet built that profile. The device misreads the voltage curve and raises a false low-battery flag. Run one full charge-discharge cycle before clinical use — after that cycle, the BMS updates its reference and the alarm clears.

The PSK-01 shuts off unexpectedly during suctioning after the battery swap — what is causing this?

New Ni-MH cells handle load spikes harder in the first 5–10 cycles because the electrode surface area is not yet fully activated. During active suctioning, the PSK-01 draws a sharp load pulse that causes voltage sag on an unconditioned cell — if that sag crosses the BMS undervoltage cutoff, the device shuts off immediately. Complete 5–10 full charge-discharge cycles on the bench before returning the device to clinical rotation. After conditioning, the cell's voltage sag under the same load drops significantly and the cutoff stops triggering.

The charge indicator on the PSK-01 is not reaching 100% on the first charge of the new battery — should I be concerned?

No. The PSK-01 charge IC applies a conservative current limit on a new Ni-MH cell during the first cycle, which means the termination point is reached before the cell is truly full by the device's own indicator scale. This is standard charge-IC behaviour with unconditioned nickel-metal hydride chemistry. Allow the device to complete a second full charge cycle — the indicator will read correctly once the cell's capacity profile is established. Do not interrupt the charge cycle early.
