Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

NiKon 1 V2 — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (EN-EL21)
This is a 7.4V, 1400mAh Li-ion replacement for the EN-EL21 battery used in the NiKon 1 V2 mirrorless camera. It powers the sensor, autofocus system, and electronic viewfinder at the same voltage and capacity as the original cell. A direct fit for the 1 V2 body with no modification required.
- 1 V2 compatibility: The EN-EL21 is exclusive to the NiKon 1 V2 — no other NiKon body uses this form factor or connector pinout. The cell voltage and BMS communication protocol match what the 1 V2 expects on first insertion.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on the 1 V2 body. The BMS accepted the cell, battery-remaining display updated correctly, and the camera powered the EVF and continuous AF without triggering a low-voltage cutoff prematurely.
- First-cycle calibration on the 1 V2: Charge this battery fully inside the 1 V2 body or OEM charger before your first shoot. The 1 V2 maps its battery-percentage display against a discharge curve — one full charge cycle from within the body lets the BMS anchor that curve correctly and show accurate remaining capacity.
Why the 1 V2 battery indicator drops faster during continuous video than stills
The 1 V2 draws significantly more current during video recording than single-frame stills. The sensor runs continuously, the processor handles real-time encoding, and the EVF stays active throughout — combined, these loads pull more current than the shot-count spec assumes. The EN-EL21's 1400mAh capacity is rated against a standard stills cycle, not sustained video draw. If you shoot video frequently, carry a second cell rather than relying on a single charge.
Battery percentage jumping or resetting to 100% mid-shoot on a new cell
This happens when the 1 V2 BMS hasn't mapped the new cell's discharge curve yet. The camera uses voltage thresholds to estimate remaining capacity — a fresh cell that hasn't been calibrated can read incorrectly because its resting voltage sits outside the camera's stored reference points. Run one complete charge-to-full, shoot until the camera gives a low-battery warning, then recharge fully. After that cycle, the percentage display should track the actual charge state accurately. If it still jumps, repeat the cycle once more before assuming a fault.

Frequently Asked Questions
My NiKon 1 V2 shows "no battery" or won't recognise the replacement EN-EL21 — is the cell dead?
The 1 V2 runs a BMS authentication check on first insertion, and a new third-party cell sometimes fails that check on a cold start. Remove the battery, reinsert it, and power the camera on again. If the error persists, place the cell in the OEM charger, charge it fully, then reinsert into the body — one charge via the OEM charger is usually enough for the camera to accept the cell and clear the incompatibility flag.
Shot count is noticeably lower than I expected from a 1400mAh cell — what's drawing it down?
The EN-EL21 spec shot count assumes moderate use of the EVF, single-shot AF, and no flash. On the 1 V2, enabling continuous AF, shooting with the EVF active throughout, or using the built-in flash for every frame can cut usable capacity significantly compared to that baseline. Cold temperatures also reduce effective capacity — Li-ion cells lose available charge below 10°C. Check whether continuous AF or EVF brightness settings are higher than needed, and keep the body warm in a pocket between shots in cold conditions.
The flash on my 1 V2 isn't fully recycling between shots near the end of a charge — is that a battery fault?
This is a normal symptom of cell voltage sag as the battery approaches depletion, not a faulty cell. The flash capacitor recharges from the battery rail — when cell voltage drops toward the lower end of the discharge curve, the capacitor takes longer to reach full charge voltage, so flash recycle time increases. The fix is straightforward: recharge the battery before the indicator drops below one bar. If recycle lag starts at higher charge levels than before on an older cell, the cell has lost usable capacity and needs replacing.
