Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Rollei Action Cam 420 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (RL420B)
This is a 3.7V 950mAh Li-ion cell for the Rollei Action Cam 420 (also listed as Actioncam 420 and AC420). It replaces OEM part RL420B and fits the same compact battery bay in all three model name variants. Capacity is 950mAh — identical to the original spec.
- AC420 / Action Cam 420 / Actioncam 420 fit: All three names refer to the same hardware platform. The battery bay dimensions, connector pin-out, and BMS voltage thresholds are identical across the naming variants, so one cell covers all three.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the AC420 body and OEM charger. The BMS accepted charge handshake on the first insertion, reached full charge voltage without trip events, and the camera body reported battery status correctly throughout discharge.
- First-use charge cycle on AC420: Run one full charge cycle through the camera body or OEM charger before heavy recording. The AC420 BMS maps its battery-remaining display to a known voltage curve — skipping this step can cause the indicator to read inaccurately until the cell completes at least one full cycle from within the camera.
AC420 battery indicator jumping erratically after fitting a replacement cell
The AC420 maps its battery percentage display to fixed voltage thresholds calibrated against the original cell's discharge curve. A new cell discharges slightly differently during its first few cycles, which causes the indicator to skip between readings rather than drop smoothly. This is a display calibration issue, not a cell fault. Run two to three full charge and discharge cycles through the camera body, and the indicator will track the new cell's curve accurately.
AC420 showing no battery or refusing to power on with a charged replacement cell
If the camera displays no battery or fails to boot after fitting this cell, the BMS has not yet completed its initial handshake with the new cell. This happens when a replacement cell arrives at a storage voltage below the camera's minimum boot threshold — typically under 3.0V. Place the cell in the OEM charger or a compatible external Li-ion charger and bring it to at least 3.6V, then reinsert. The camera should boot normally at that voltage.

Frequently Asked Questions
My AC420 shows the battery icon but jumps from 80% straight to 20% — is the cell faulty?
The cell is not faulty. The AC420 reads voltage and maps it to percentage steps calibrated to the original discharge curve. A new replacement cell discharges at a slightly different rate through its first few cycles, causing the indicator to skip thresholds rather than step down evenly. Run two to three full charge and discharge cycles through the camera body and the display will track the cell accurately from around the third cycle onward.
The AC420 cuts out mid-recording even though the battery indicator still showed charge — what's happening?
Under sustained video recording, the AC420 draws current from the sensor, processor, and image stabilisation simultaneously. This combined load can pull the cell voltage below the BMS cutoff threshold before the indicator catches up — especially in cold conditions where Li-ion cells deliver lower effective voltage under load. The camera shuts down to protect the cell, not because it is empty. Let the body warm to room temperature, recharge fully, and check that the contacts on the cell and bay are clean before the next recording session.
After several months of occasional use, the AC420 seems to drain far faster than it did when the replacement cell was new — what degrades it that quickly?
Shallow cycling — repeatedly charging after only a small discharge — is the most common cause of early capacity fade in Li-ion cells used in action cameras. Storing the camera with the cell fully charged at 100% for weeks between shoots also accelerates degradation. For best cell longevity between shooting sessions, store the AC420 with the cell at roughly 50–60% charge, which corresponds to a resting voltage of approximately 3.8V.
