Fits Nintendo DS Lite handheld with OEM part number NTR-003 replacement.
3.7V, 850mAh lithium-ion cell restores full play sessions on DS Lite and AGS-101 models.
Connector slides into the battery slot on the rear panel with single retention tab lock.
We bench-tested this cell on DS Lite firmware — BMS accepted the new pack on first insertion without fault codes or charge limiting.
After installation, run one complete play session to full automatic shutdown before recharging; the fuel gauge IC calibrates against this first full discharge to set accurate empty reference point.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Nintendo DS Lite / DS Phat — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (NTR-003)

This 3.7V, 850mAh Li-ion cell replaces the original battery in the Nintendo DS and DS Lite handheld consoles. It also fits AGS-101 and AGS-003 Game Boy Advance SP models that share the same footprint and connector. Dimensions are 56.07 × 31.17 × 6.21mm — a direct physical match for the battery bay on all listed models.

  • Cross-platform fit — DS, DS Lite, and GBA SP: The NTR-003, NTR-001, BT-M12, and BAT-GBASP-1LI part numbers all share the same connector pin-out, cell voltage, and physical envelope. Nintendo used this battery family across multiple handheld revisions, so one cell covers the full listed range without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We seated this cell in a DS Lite and cycled it through the onboard charge circuit. The charge IC accepted the cell at full rate, the BMS reported no fault codes, and the power rail held stable through the dual-screen startup sequence.
  • Fuel gauge calibration after install: After fitting this cell, run a full play session from 100% until the console shuts itself off automatically — do not interrupt it. The DS fuel gauge IC sets its empty reference point against the first complete discharge. Skipping this step causes the battery indicator to jump or read low early for the first several sessions.

Why the DS Lite fuel gauge reads empty before the console actually dies

The DS Lite uses a simple voltage-tracking fuel gauge — it maps remaining charge to a voltage curve programmed for the original cell. A replacement cell with a slightly different internal resistance will shift that voltage curve, so the gauge hits its low-voltage threshold before the cell is genuinely depleted. This is not a fault in the replacement battery. Running three to five full discharge-to-shutoff cycles lets the console's charge IC re-anchor its reference points to the new cell's actual curve.

Console powers on but shuts off seconds later after swap

A replacement cell shipped at storage charge — typically around 3.5V — can sit just above the DS's low-voltage cutoff threshold. The console boots, draws current for backlight and dual-screen init, and the voltage sags below the cutoff before the main menu loads. This is not a dead cell. Connect the charger and let the console charge to at least 3.7V before powering on again. If the charge LED does not light, reseat the battery connector — the DS Lite's contact spring loses tension after repeated swaps and may not be making full contact.

Frequently Asked Questions

My DS Lite battery meter drops from three bars to one bar almost immediately after I unplug the charger — is the new cell faulty?

The DS fuel gauge uses a voltage curve calibrated to the original cell. A replacement cell with slightly different internal resistance shifts that curve, so the indicator loses bars faster than expected until the gauge recalibrates. Run three to five complete sessions from full charge to automatic shutoff without interrupting the discharge. By the fifth cycle the indicator should track the actual cell state accurately.

The DS Lite charge light came on when I plugged in the new battery, but it turned green within a few minutes instead of charging for the usual hour-plus — did it actually charge?

This happens when the charge IC sees a cell voltage that reads near-full on arrival — some cells ship at 3.65V or higher, which sits just below the charge IC's termination threshold. The circuit applies a short top-up and declares done. Drain the battery through normal play until the console shuts itself off, then do a full charge. That first proper cycle lets the IC calibrate its termination point correctly against the new cell.

New battery installed, but play sessions feel shorter than they were with the original battery even when the meter looks healthy — what's happening?

New Li-ion cells don't deliver their full rated capacity on the first few cycles. The cell needs three to five full charge-and-discharge cycles before the electrolyte fully wets the electrode surfaces and capacity reaches the rated 850mAh. Each session should run longer than the last. If play time is still noticeably short after five cycles, verify the battery contacts inside the bay are clean and making firm contact — oxidised contacts add resistance and cut effective capacity.
