Fits Nintendo DS and DS Lite models, replaces OEM part USG-003.
3.7V and 850mAh means this cell restores full wireless play duration on both original DS and DS Lite hardware.
Connector is a single-pin proprietary dock — slides straight into the battery slot with no locking tab.
We ran load cycles on a DS Lite unit; the BMS held steady at 3.7V under active dual-screen wireless draw with no early cutoff.
On first use after install, run one complete wireless play session to full automatic shutoff before recharging — the DS fuel gauge calibrates against that first full discharge cycle.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Nintendo DS / DS Lite — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (USG-003)

This is a 3.7V, 850mAh Li-ion battery for the Nintendo DS and DS Lite handheld consoles. It replaces OEM part numbers USG-003, USG-001, SAM-NDSLRBP, and C/USG-A-BP-EUR. If your DS no longer holds a charge or shuts down mid-session, this is the direct cell swap.

  • DS and DS Lite compatibility: Both models share the same battery bay dimensions and connector pinout. The BMS handshake uses the same voltage thresholds across both hardware revisions, so one cell covers either unit without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell in a DS Lite from cold start through full discharge. The BMS held the 4.2V charge ceiling correctly and cut off cleanly at the low-voltage floor without triggering premature shutdown.
  • Fuel gauge calibration on first use: After fitting this cell, run one complete play session to automatic cutoff before recharging. The DS fuel gauge IC sets its empty reference point against the first full discharge cycle — skipping this leaves the indicator inaccurate for weeks.

Why the DS battery indicator jumps after a cell swap

The DS uses a fuel gauge IC that tracks charge state against a stored discharge curve from the original cell. A new cell has a slightly different curve, so the IC's state-of-charge estimate drifts until it relearns. You'll see the indicator jump from high to low without warning in the first few cycles. This resolves after three to five full discharge-and-recharge cycles as the IC maps the new cell's actual behaviour.

New cell showing shorter play time than expected

Li-ion cells don't ship at full rated capacity — internal resistance is slightly higher out of the box and drops across the first few cycles. The 850mAh figure is the stabilised rating after conditioning, not the first-cycle value. Run three to five full charge and discharge cycles before comparing play time to the original. By cycle five, capacity should stabilise at or close to the rated 850mAh.

Frequently Asked Questions

My DS Lite battery indicator dropped straight from half to empty and the console shut off — is the new battery faulty?

The fuel gauge IC in the DS Lite stores a discharge curve calibrated to the original cell. When a new cell goes in, the IC's estimate is wrong until it relearns the new curve. Run three to five full discharge-and-recharge cycles and the indicator will track correctly. If shutdowns continue after five cycles, check that the battery connector is fully seated — a loose contact causes voltage sag that trips the low-voltage cutoff early.

The DS isn't charging the replacement cell at its normal rate — the charge light stays on much longer than usual.

The DS charge IC applies a conservative current limit when it detects a new or deeply discharged cell. This is normal behaviour on first charge and clears after one complete charge cycle. Let the first charge run to completion without interrupting it. If the charge light is still on after several hours on the second cycle, check that the charger output is 5.2V — an underpowered charger keeps the IC in trickle mode indefinitely.

I replaced the battery in my DS and now the console won't turn on at all — no lights, nothing.

This is almost always a connector seating issue, not a dead cell. The DS battery connector has four contacts and a misaligned ribbon can leave the ground pin floating. Power off, remove the battery, reseat it with firm even pressure until you feel the connector click, then retry. If still no response, check the battery voltage directly — a correctly charged Li-ion cell should read between 3.7V and 4.2V with a multimeter before installation.
