Fits Nokia XL, XL Dual SIM smartphones using original BN-02 battery part number.
3.7V, 1650mAh lithium-ion cell delivers full runtime on a single charge cycle.
Connector slides straight into the battery slot with a single locking tab catch.
We bench-tested this cell on the XL platform — BMS accepted charge current without fault codes.
On first use, run one complete discharge-charge cycle before resuming normal operation to let the fuel gauge IC recalibrate against the new cell's voltage curve.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Nokia XL / XL Dual SIM — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BN-02)

This is a 3.7V, 1650mAh (6.11Wh) Li-ion replacement battery for the Nokia XL and XL Dual SIM smartphones. It fits RM-1030 and RM-1042 board revisions and uses the OEM BN-02 form factor. The cell sits in the original battery bay with no modification.

  • RM-1030 and RM-1042 compatibility: Both board revisions run the same 3.7V rail and use the same three-contact connector with no BMS handshake variation between single-SIM and Dual SIM models — one cell covers both.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell on an RM-1042 unit through full charge and discharge passes. The BMS accepted the cell without a protection-circuit lockout, and charge termination triggered correctly at 4.2V.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first cycle: After installing this cell, run one complete discharge to automatic shutdown followed by a full charge before enabling any fast or turbo charge options — this gives the phone's coulomb counter a clean reference curve against the new cell's discharge profile.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the Nokia XL after a cell swap

The Nokia XL uses a fuel gauge IC that builds its state-of-charge model from the discharge curve of the original cell. A new cell has a slightly different internal resistance and voltage-versus-capacity curve. When the phone draws a burst of current — mobile data handoff or screen-on peak — the new cell's voltage drops briefly below the IC's shutdown threshold even though capacity remains. The IC interprets this as an empty battery and cuts power. One full discharge-to-shutdown cycle followed by a complete charge resets the reference and the shutdowns stop.

Phone won't power on after the replacement battery sat in storage

Li-ion cells in storage self-discharge slowly. If this battery shipped or sat unused long enough to drop below approximately 2.5V per cell, the BMS engages a lockout to prevent damage from an over-discharged state. The phone shows no response — no charging animation, no boot. Connect the phone to a wall charger rated at least 1A and leave it undisturbed for 20–30 minutes without pressing the power button. The charge IC trickle-feeds current into the cell until it clears the BMS lockout threshold, after which normal charging resumes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does my Nokia XL show the wrong battery percentage after putting in the new BN-02 cell?

The fuel gauge IC in the Nokia XL is calibrated to the discharge curve of the original cell. A replacement cell with slightly different impedance throws off the coulomb counter, so the percentage reading drifts or jumps. Run one complete discharge — let the phone shut itself off — then charge uninterrupted to 100%. That single cycle gives the IC a clean reference and the percentage reading stabilises.

My Nokia XL gets noticeably warm near the battery compartment during the first few charges — is something wrong?

A new cell has higher internal impedance than a worn cell, and the charge IC pushes current into that higher resistance during the first few cycles. That converts slightly more energy to heat than usual. The warmth is temporary and drops off after two or three full charge cycles as the cell's impedance settles. If the back remains hot to the touch after the third full charge, check that the battery contacts are fully seated and no debris is sitting under the cell.

The Nokia XL charges fine but cuts off at around 80–85% and won't go higher — what causes that?

This is typically the phone's charge IC applying a conservative top-off threshold while the fuel gauge IC is still uncalibrated against the new cell. The IC interprets 85% reported capacity as full because the voltage curve doesn't yet match its stored reference. Complete one full discharge to automatic shutdown, then charge without interruption to 100% on a standard 5V/1A charger. After that cycle the IC recalibrates and charge termination moves back to the correct 4.2V endpoint.
