Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Overmax Vertis Famy — 3.7V Li-ion 1000mAh Replacement Battery
This is a 3.7V Li-ion replacement battery rated at 1000mAh (3.7Wh) for the Overmax Vertis Famy smartphone. It slots directly into the Vertis Famy battery bay and connects to the phone's charge IC and fuel gauge circuit. No OEM part number is published for this cell, but the physical dimensions — 48.23 x 49.06 x 5.30mm — match the original cavity.
- Vertis Famy fit: The Vertis Famy runs a single-cell 3.7V Li-ion architecture with a compact form factor. This cell matches that voltage rail and fits the housing without modification to the connector or frame tabs.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on a smartphone test rig. The BMS accepted charge handshake correctly, held voltage above 3.5V under screen and modem load, and cut off cleanly at the low-voltage threshold without triggering emergency shutdown prematurely.
- Fuel gauge recalibration after swap: On first use after installing this cell, disable fast charging and run one full discharge-to-charge cycle at standard rate. This lets the Vertis Famy's fuel gauge IC map its coulomb counter to the new cell's actual discharge curve before any high-current session runs against uncalibrated data.
Why the Vertis Famy reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap
The Vertis Famy uses a fuel gauge IC that builds a discharge curve from repeated charge cycles on the original cell. When a new cell goes in, the IC still references that old curve. The mismatch causes the percentage readout to jump or stall — most visibly between 80% and 100%, and again near 20%. One full uninterrupted discharge from 100% down to automatic shutdown, followed by a full charge, forces the IC to recalculate against the new cell's actual impedance profile. After that cycle, percentage readings stabilise.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell
This shutdown happens when the cell voltage drops sharply under load — modem transmit bursts and screen brightness spikes are the usual triggers. The phone's protection circuit reads the voltage sag as a critically low cell and cuts power before the OS can log a graceful shutdown. It is not a faulty cell — it is an uncalibrated fuel gauge reading surface charge instead of true state of charge. Run one complete discharge cycle at standard screen-on use with no fast charging, then recharge fully to 4.2V. After that calibration cycle, the gauge tracks cell voltage accurately under load and shutdown events at 20–30% typically stop.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Vertis Famy won't turn on at all after the replacement battery sat in a drawer for a few months — is it dead?
When a Li-ion cell drops below approximately 2.5V, the BMS locks out to prevent charging a critically depleted cell — this is a protection trip, not a dead battery. Plug the phone into a wall charger (not a USB port) and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing the power button. The charge IC will trickle current into the cell to bring voltage above the BMS unlock threshold. Once the charging indicator appears on screen, the cell has recovered enough to accept a normal charge cycle.
Fast charging stopped working after I installed the new battery — the phone charges, but only at the slow rate now.
USB or proprietary fast-charge protocols require a BMS handshake that some charge ICs won't complete on the very first cycle with a new cell. The charge IC defaults to standard current as a precaution. Complete one full charge at the slow rate, let the phone discharge normally to below 20%, then plug in again — most Vertis Famy units re-negotiate the fast-charge handshake on the second cycle. If it still won't fast charge after that, check the cable: a worn USB data pin breaks the protocol negotiation before the BMS is even involved.
The phone feels noticeably warm around the battery area while charging the new cell — should I be concerned?
A new Li-ion cell has higher internal impedance than a broken-in one, so the charge IC dissipates more energy as heat during the first several cycles. Warmth near the battery bay during charging is normal for the first three to five cycles and drops off as the cell's impedance settles. If the phone becomes hot to the touch — not just warm — remove it from the charger and let it cool before continuing. After the break-in period, charge at room temperature and avoid leaving the phone on a surface that traps heat, such as a pillow or car dashboard, during charging sessions.
