Fits Coolpad 5218S, 7236, and 5218D smartphones; replaces OEM part number CPLD-113.
3.7V, 1500mAh lithium-ion cell; delivers full capacity for calling, messaging, and standard app use.
Connector slides into original battery slot with flat orientation; locking tab aligns flush against device frame.
We bench-tested this cell in a 5218S unit; BMS accepted charge without fault codes and held stable voltage under moderate load.
On first use after installation, run one complete discharge-charge cycle without fast charging — this lets the fuel gauge IC recalibrate against the new cell curve before high-current charging resumes.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Coolpad 5218S / 7236 / 5218D — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (CPLD-113)

The CPLD-113 is a 3.7V, 1500mAh Li-ion cell that fits the Coolpad 5218S, 7236, and 5218D smartphones. It restores normal calling, messaging, and app functionality when the original cell has degraded or failed to hold a charge. Dimensions are 58.00 × 52.00 × 4.70mm — confirm clearance before fitting.

  • 5218S, 7236, and 5218D compatibility: These three Coolpad models share the same battery bay geometry, voltage rail, and connector pinout, which is why one cell covers all three. The BMS handshake protocol is identical across the range, so no firmware difference affects charge acceptance.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the 5218S platform. The BMS accepted charge without cutoff events, and voltage held steady above 3.5V through the bulk of the discharge curve.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first cycle: On first use after installation, run one complete discharge down to auto-shutoff, then charge to 100% uninterrupted. This lets the coulomb counter IC re-anchor its endpoints to the new cell before the OS starts reporting state-of-charge figures you can trust.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell

The Coolpad 5218S fuel gauge IC stores a discharge curve calibrated to the old cell. When a new cell with a slightly different internal resistance is installed, the IC underestimates how close the cell is to its low-voltage cutoff. Under modem transmit load or screen-on draw, voltage dips sharply, and the BMS trips before the reported percentage reaches zero. One full discharge-to-shutoff cycle followed by an uninterrupted charge recalibrates the curve. After that cycle, shutoffs below 15% should stop.

Phone not powering on after the battery sat in storage

Li-ion cells that self-discharge below roughly 2.5V in storage trigger a BMS lockout to prevent cell damage. The 5218S will show no response — no boot logo, no charging animation — when this happens. Plug into a wall charger rather than a USB port; wall chargers deliver enough trickle current to push the cell above the BMS re-enable threshold. Leave it connected for 20–30 minutes before attempting to power on; if the charging LED activates, the BMS has cleared and normal charging will proceed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does my Coolpad 5218S show the wrong battery percentage after fitting the new CPLD-113 cell?

The fuel gauge IC on the 5218S is still running a discharge curve calibrated to the old cell's internal resistance profile. It has no automatic way to detect that a new cell is installed. Run one full discharge to auto-shutoff, then charge to 100% without interruption — this gives the coulomb counter new endpoints to anchor against. Percentage accuracy should normalise within one or two cycles after that.

Fast charging stopped working after I replaced the battery — what's happening?

On the first cycle after a cell swap, the charge IC on the 5218S sometimes defaults to standard charge rates until it has completed one handshake negotiation with the new BMS. This is a one-cycle limitation, not a fault. Let the phone complete a full charge at the slower rate, then disconnect and reconnect the charger — the fast charge protocol should re-engage. If it does not, confirm the charger output is at least 5V/2A, as marginal adapters can prevent the protocol from activating.

The replacement battery makes the phone noticeably warm near the battery during the first charge — is that a problem?

A new high-impedance cell generates more heat than a broken-in one because the charge IC is pushing current into a cell with higher internal resistance than it has settled into. This is normal during the first one or two charge cycles and should reduce as the cell's resistance drops. If the phone becomes uncomfortable to hold or the charger disconnects automatically, stop the charge, let it cool for 10 minutes, and resume. Persistent heat beyond the second cycle points to a mismatched charger — switch to the original Coolpad wall adapter and retest.
