Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Hisense E956Q / U958 / T958 Series — 3.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery (LI38170)
This is a 3.8V, 1700mAh Li-ion battery carrying OEM part number LI38170. It fits the Hisense E956Q, U958, HS-EG958, and T958 smartphones. Capacity figure comes from the product data — 6.46Wh total stored energy.
- E956Q / U958 / T958 platform fit: These models share the same battery bay dimensions (64.40 × 52.90 × 4.20mm), a common 3.8V cell voltage rail, and the same connector pinout — which is why a single LI38170 cell covers all of them without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through a full charge and discharge on the E956Q. The BMS accepted the charge handshake cleanly, voltage held stable across the discharge curve, and no protection trip was triggered at either end of the cycle.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first use after installation, disable fast charging and run one complete discharge-charge cycle at standard rate. This gives the fuel gauge IC a clean reference curve against the new cell before high-current charging pushes current into an uncalibrated cell.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the Hisense E956Q after a cell swap
This happens when the phone's fuel gauge IC is still using the discharge curve it mapped to the old, degraded cell. The new cell has a steeper voltage drop under modem or screen load near the bottom of its range. When actual cell voltage dips below the SoC floor the firmware expects — typically around 3.5V under load — the phone cuts power before the percentage readout reaches zero. Running one full discharge cycle to automatic shutdown, then charging uninterrupted to 100%, resets the coulomb counter reference point and stops the early cutoff.
Battery percentage jumping erratically after fitting LI38170
Erratic percentage readings — jumping 10–15 points up or down without corresponding use — indicate the fuel gauge IC has not yet built a complete discharge profile for the replacement cell. The coulomb counter is interpolating from an old, mismatched curve. This is not a faulty battery. Charge the phone to 100%, use it down to automatic shutdown, then charge back to 100% without interruption. After that single calibration cycle, the percentage display stabilises because the IC now has an accurate full-range voltage-to-capacity map for the LI38170 cell.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Hisense E956Q won't power on at all after the new battery sat in a drawer for a few months — is it dead?
Most likely the cell discharged below the BMS lockout threshold during storage, typically under 2.5V per cell. The protection circuit cuts all output at that point to prevent damage, so the phone sees no voltage and won't respond to the power button. Connect the phone to a wall charger — not a PC USB port — and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing anything. The charge IC will trickle current into the cell until voltage recovers above the BMS unlock threshold, at which point the phone boots normally.
Fast charging stopped working on the E956Q right after I swapped in the LI38170 — the phone only charges slowly now.
On the first cycle after a cell replacement, the BMS on the new cell may not immediately complete the handshake required for the phone's fast charge protocol. The charge IC defaults to standard rate as a safe fallback when it cannot confirm the cell's internal resistance profile. Run one full standard-rate charge to 100%, then disconnect and reconnect the charger — the BMS handshake completes correctly on the second cycle and fast charging resumes. If it still defaults to slow charge after that second cycle, check the charging cable, not the battery.
The phone feels noticeably warm near the battery area while charging the new LI38170 — is that normal?
A new Li-ion cell has higher internal impedance than a broken-in cell, so more energy is lost as heat during the first few charge cycles. This is expected and reduces after 3–5 full cycles as the cell's impedance drops. Warm to the touch is within normal range; hot enough to be uncomfortable against skin is not. If the phone feels uncomfortably hot, switch to a lower-wattage charger for the first two cycles and check that nothing is blocking airflow around the back of the phone during charging.
