Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Palm Veer / Veer 4G — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BP3 / 157-10151-00)
This is a 3.7V 920mAh Li-ion cell that fits the Palm Veer and Veer 4G smartphones, including models P160U and P160UEU. It replaces OEM part numbers BP3 and 157-10151-00 directly. Dimensions are 43.80 × 34.50 × 5.50mm — measure your original before ordering.
- Veer and Veer 4G compatibility: Both the Veer and Veer 4G use the same BP3 cell footprint and connector pinout. The BMS handshake is identical across P160U and P160UEU hardware revisions, so one cell covers the full range.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on a Veer unit. The BMS accepted the cell without fault codes, held voltage through screen-on and radio-active load states, and cut off cleanly at the low-voltage threshold.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: After fitting this cell, run one full discharge to automatic shutdown, then charge uninterrupted to 100% before normal use. The webOS fuel gauge IC calibrates its coulomb counter against that first complete cycle — skipping it causes the percentage display to drift from the first day.
Why the Veer reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap
The Palm Veer's fuel gauge IC stores a discharge curve learned from the original cell. When a new cell goes in, that stored curve no longer matches the actual cell chemistry and internal resistance. The IC keeps estimating state-of-charge against the old model, so the displayed percentage drifts — often reading higher than reality early in discharge. One full discharge-to-shutdown followed by an uninterrupted charge to 4.20V forces the IC to rebuild its reference curve against the new cell.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell
This happens when the cell voltage drops sharply under combined modem and display load — a voltage cliff the fuel gauge didn't predict. The phone's protection circuit cuts power the moment cell voltage falls below the hardware floor, even though the percentage counter still showed charge remaining. It is most common in the first few cycles before the coulomb counter recalibrates. After two or three full cycles the IC tracks the actual voltage cliff and the percentage readout catches up — shutdowns at false percentages stop.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Palm Veer won't turn on at all after the new battery sat in a drawer for months — is the cell dead?
The BMS locks out the cell when voltage drops below roughly 2.5V during storage, which is a hard protection state — the phone won't respond to the power button. Connect it to a wall charger and leave it for 20–30 minutes before attempting to power on; a slow pre-charge trickle from the charge IC is needed to bring the cell back above the BMS re-enable threshold. If the charge LED never illuminates after that window, check that the battery connector is fully seated — the Veer's small connector can appear clicked in while still being slightly off-pad.
The Veer gets noticeably warm near the battery area during the first few charges — is something wrong?
A new high-impedance cell resists current more than a broken-in cell does, so the charge IC dissipates more heat during the first few cycles. That warmth near the battery is normal for the first two or three full charges and decreases as internal resistance settles. If the phone becomes hot to the touch or the charge stops and restarts repeatedly, remove the battery and check that the cell dimensions match — 43.80 × 34.50 × 5.50mm — because an oversized cell pressed against the case traps heat. Normal first-cycle warmth should taper off by the third full charge.
The percentage on my Veer jumps around erratically — it went from 60% to 12% in minutes after the swap.
The fuel gauge IC is still running the discharge model it built for the old, degraded cell — that model does not match the new cell's voltage curve, so percentage estimates become erratic under any real load. The fix is one complete uninterrupted discharge to automatic shutdown followed by a full charge to 100% with the screen off. That single cycle gives the coulomb counter enough data to rebuild its reference curve against the new cell, and the percentage readout stabilises from the next discharge onward.
