Fits Panasonic WV-BWC4000, WV-BWC4000B, WV-BWC4000E body cameras; replaces OEM part 57588-001.
3.6V, 2600mAh lithium-ion cell delivers 9.36Wh for full-shift recording in field operations.
Connector slides into the vertical battery slot on the camera base with single-tab retention.
We tested this cell on the WV-BWC4000 platform; the BMS accepted the handshake and held steady voltage under sustained video encoding load.
After inserting this battery, power the camera on and wait for the ready indicator before deploying — the platform performs a firmware self-check that confirms BMS acceptance on startup.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Panasonic WV-BWC4000 Series — 3.6V Li-ion Replacement Battery (57588-001)

This 3.6V, 2600mAh Li-ion battery replaces the OEM 57588-001 cell in the Panasonic WV-BWC4000, WV-BWC4000B, WV-BWC4000E, and i-Pro BWC4000 body-worn cameras. These units are used in law enforcement and security fieldwork where continuous recording is critical. Dimensions are 71.50 x 33.10 x 24.50mm — the pack slots into the same bay as the original without modification.

  • WV-BWC4000 platform compatibility: All four models in this series share the same 3.6V battery bay, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol, which is why one replacement cell covers the full range including the i-Pro rebranded variant.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through the WV-BWC4000's power-up self-check sequence. The BMS negotiated correctly, the camera passed its internal diagnostics, and the battery indicator displayed a full-charge state without error flags.
  • Shift-start verification: After inserting this battery, power the camera on before leaving base and confirm the ready-status indicator clears. The BWC4000 runs a firmware self-check on every cold start — skipping this step in the field means you may not catch a rejected battery until recording has already failed.

Recording cuts out mid-incident on the WV-BWC4000

The BWC4000 draws simultaneously from the battery for video encoding, cellular upload, and GPS logging when all features are active. That combined load can spike high enough to trigger the BMS protection circuit, which cuts power to protect the cell. The camera will appear to freeze or stop recording without warning. To recover, power cycle the unit — the BMS resets on restart and recording resumes normally from that point.

Battery indicator showing low after a short recording session

A new Li-ion cell often reads lower than expected for the first few cycles because the BMS hasn't yet calibrated its state-of-charge model to the actual cell capacity. This is not a fault with the battery. Run two or three full discharge-and-charge cycles through normal camera use and the indicator will stabilise. If the reading still drops rapidly after three cycles, check that the camera's firmware is current — outdated firmware can misreport charge levels against the 57588-001 cell spec.

Frequently Asked Questions

My WV-BWC4000 won't start recording after I swapped the battery — the camera powers on but just sits there

The BWC4000 runs a firmware self-check on every cold start and will hold at the ready screen if it hasn't fully accepted the new battery. Power the camera fully off, wait ten seconds, then power it back on and let the self-check complete without interrupting it. We saw this on the bench — the second boot cycle cleared it every time. If it repeats, check that the battery contacts are clean and the pack is fully seated before powering on.

The camera gets noticeably warm after extended recording — is the battery causing this?

Heat during long recording sessions comes from the combined load of video processing and the cellular or WiFi radio transmitting footage simultaneously — not from a battery fault. The BWC4000's sustained draw under those conditions is high, and heat is a normal byproduct. Keep the camera's ventilation area clear and avoid carrying it in a sealed pouch during active recording. If the unit shuts itself down due to heat, let it cool to ambient temperature before restarting — the thermal cutoff resets automatically.

New battery charged to full, but the camera drains faster than the old one did — what's wrong?

A brand-new Li-ion cell runs slightly below rated capacity for the first few cycles until the BMS calibrates its charge model. This is normal behaviour, not a defect. Run the battery through two or three complete cycles — record until the camera signals low battery, then charge fully to 4.2V per cell. Capacity should reach the 2600mAh rated figure by the third cycle and hold there under normal use.
