Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Pantech Vega 6 / Vega N6 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BAT-7400M)

This is a 3.7V, 2700mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the Pantech Vega 6, Vega N6, IM-A860K, and A860S 4G. It slots in where the original BAT-7400M sits and restores power to a device that has lost capacity through repeated charge cycles. Voltage and cell dimensions match the original spec: 67.30 × 52.70 × 5.95mm.

  • Vega 6 / N6 platform fit: The IM-A860K and A860S 4G share the same battery bay, connector pitch, and BMS handshake protocol as the Vega 6. One cell fits all variants in this cluster without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge, standby, and load draw. The BMS engaged overcurrent protection at the expected threshold and the protection circuit cleared cleanly on reconnect.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first use after installation, disable fast charging and run one full discharge-charge cycle. This lets the fuel gauge IC map the new cell's discharge curve before high-current charging pushes into an uncalibrated state.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the Vega 6 after a cell swap

The Vega 6 fuel gauge IC holds the old cell's discharge curve in memory after a swap. When the phone hits a load spike — LTE radio handoff or screen-on burst — the new cell's actual voltage drops below what the IC expects at that state of charge. The phone reads this as a critical low-voltage event and cuts power even though the displayed percentage still shows 20–30%. One full discharge to automatic shutdown, followed by a full charge to 100%, resets the coulomb counter against the new cell curve.

OS percentage jumping erratically in the first two days after replacement

Erratic percentage jumps — 60% dropping to 40% in minutes, then correcting upward — happen because the fuel gauge IC is still referencing calibration data from the worn cell. The new cell has a steeper, cleaner discharge curve, and the IC has not yet built a model for it. This is not a fault in the replacement cell. Two full discharge-charge cycles bring the reported percentage in line with actual capacity.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Pantech Vega 6 powers off completely at around 25% after fitting the new BAT-7400M — is the cell faulty?

This is a fuel gauge calibration issue, not a faulty cell. The phone's coulomb counter is still using the worn cell's discharge curve, so it misreads the new cell's voltage under LTE or screen load and triggers an emergency cutoff. Run one full discharge to automatic shutdown, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. That single cycle resets the IC against the new cell and the early shutdowns stop.

The Vega 6 gets noticeably warm near the battery compartment during the first few charges on the replacement cell — is that normal?

A new cell has higher internal impedance than a fully conditioned one. During the first few charge cycles, the charge IC works against that resistance, and some heat is a normal result. The warmth should reduce after two or three full cycles as impedance drops. If the phone stays hot to the touch beyond the third full charge, check that no background sync process is running simultaneously and keeping the modem active during charging.

The phone won't power on at all after the replacement BAT-7400M sat in a drawer for several months — how do I recover it?

A cell stored discharged for an extended period can drop below 2.5V, which trips the BMS into lockout to prevent further discharge damage. Plug into a wall charger — not a USB port — and leave it connected for at least 30–40 minutes without pressing the power button. The charge IC will trickle current into the cell until voltage climbs above the BMS re-enable threshold, after which the phone will boot normally. If the screen shows no charging indicator after one hour on a wall charger, the cell has dropped too low for recovery and a second replacement is needed.
