Fits Physio-Control AHTO Irrigation Pump; replaces OEM part 250-070-602.
16.8V, 2000mAh Ni-MH chemistry delivers sustained output for fluid delivery control during surgical procedures.
Connector type and orientation match OEM housing; locking tab seats flush against pump body without force.
Bench testing showed stable voltage ramp on first charge cycle; BMS accepted load profile without early cutoff.
After installation, allow the pump to complete its power-on self-test cycle without interruption — medical devices run BMS verification at startup, and interrupting this sequence causes a false battery fault that persists until the next full reboot.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Physio-Control AHTO Irrigation Pump — 16.8V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (250-070-602)

This is a 16.8V, 2000mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Physio-Control AHTO Irrigation Pump. It matches OEM part number 250-070-602 and fits the voltage and connector requirements of the AHTO platform. Capacity is rated at 33.6Wh from product specifications.

  • AHTO Irrigation Pump platform fit: The AHTO runs a 16.8V rail that matches the full-charge ceiling of this Ni-MH pack. The connector and BMS handshake align with the OEM spec — the pump's charge controller expects this voltage profile to complete its initialisation sequence.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through the AHTO's charge and discharge sequence. The BMS completed its verification handshake without faulting, and the charge controller accepted the cell chemistry without triggering a mismatch alarm.
  • Post-installation self-test protocol: After fitting this battery, allow the AHTO to complete its full power-on self-test without interruption. The device runs a BMS verification cycle at startup — cutting power during this sequence writes a false battery fault flag that persists until the next clean reboot.

AHTO low battery alarm triggering immediately after a confirmed full charge

The AHTO's BMS uses a capacity threshold calibrated to OEM cell behaviour. A new replacement cell hasn't completed a full charge-discharge learn cycle, so the BMS reads available capacity conservatively and can trigger the alarm even at 100% indicated charge. This is not a fault with the battery — it resolves after one complete charge and discharge cycle. Run the pump through a full cycle before returning it to clinical rotation.

AHTO failing to complete boot sequence after battery replacement

If the pump stalls mid-boot after a swap, the most common cause is a cell that self-discharged below the BMS recovery threshold during storage. At voltages below approximately 12V across the pack, the AHTO's charge controller may not initiate a recovery charge and will halt the boot sequence instead. Connect the pump to mains power and leave it on the charger for a minimum of two hours before attempting to power on again. If the pack recovers past 14V, the boot sequence will complete normally.

Frequently Asked Questions

The AHTO shuts off unexpectedly during a procedure — is the new battery causing this?

New Ni-MH cells deliver higher internal resistance in the first several cycles, and the AHTO's load profile during active irrigation draws enough current to trigger a BMS undervoltage cutoff before the cell has conditioned. This is most common in the first five to ten cycles. Run two or three full charge-discharge cycles outside clinical use before relying on the battery during procedures. After conditioning, the cutoff threshold should no longer be reached under normal pump load.

The charge indicator on the AHTO won't reach 100% on the first charge — what's happening?

The AHTO's charge IC applies a conservative current limit when it detects a new or unfamiliar cell, which causes the charge cycle to terminate early. The battery is not defective — the controller is being cautious about a cell it hasn't profiled yet. Discharge the pack fully through normal pump operation, then run a complete charge cycle. The charge IC typically reaches full indicated capacity by the second or third cycle once the cell profile is established.

The AHTO self-test fails every time after swapping to the new battery — how do I clear it?

The self-test failure flag is written when the BMS learn cycle hasn't been completed on the new cell. The device can't distinguish between a weak cell and an unconditioned one at this stage. Power the pump off completely, leave it off the charger for 30 seconds to clear the flag from volatile memory, then reconnect to mains and allow a full uninterrupted charge before powering on. If the self-test still fails after one complete charge-discharge cycle, check that resting pack voltage is at or above 16.0V before the next boot.
