This 7.4V, 750mAh Li-Polymer battery replaces the original AE503048-2S cell in the Polaroid Zip instant photo printer. It fits the compact Bluetooth printer that produces 2×3-inch Zink prints from a mobile app. Voltage and capacity match the original spec exactly.

  • Polaroid Zip printer fit: The Zip uses a dedicated 7.4V two-cell Li-Polymer pack with a specific connector and BMS handshake. This battery matches that configuration — the pack communicates charge state directly to the printer firmware to control the paper feed motor and print head heating cycle.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran the battery through full charge cycles on a Zip unit and monitored the BMS response during print head activation. The cell held voltage within spec across the heating cycle without triggering low-voltage cutoff.
  • First print session prep: Charge the battery fully before starting your first print job. The paper feed motor and thermal print head draw peak current simultaneously on the first print, and a partially charged new cell can trip the BMS before a single sheet completes.

Print quality fading mid-sheet on the Polaroid Zip

The Zip's thermal print head requires a stable voltage supply across the full 2×3-inch print pass. If cell voltage sags during the heating cycle, the print head temperature drops unevenly, leaving the bottom half of the print lighter than the top. This is a voltage delivery issue, not a paper or app problem. A fresh, fully charged cell maintains the voltage headroom needed to keep the heating element consistent from top to bottom.

Bluetooth pairing drops after replacing the battery

The Zip loses its paired device record when power is fully interrupted during a battery swap. This is normal firmware behaviour — the printer does not retain pairing data across a complete power loss. Open the Polaroid app on your phone, delete the existing Zip entry from your Bluetooth device list, then re-pair from scratch. The printer shows as "Zip" in the Bluetooth scan list once powered on and fully charged.

My Polaroid Zip won't feed paper after I put the new battery in — what's wrong?

The paper feed motor needs a minimum voltage to engage, and a new Li-Polymer cell often ships at a partial state of charge. If the battery sits below roughly 7.0V when the motor fires, the BMS cuts the load before the paper moves. Charge the battery fully via USB before attempting the first print — the charge indicator on the Zip should show solid before you load paper.

The bottom of every print is lighter than the top — is the battery causing this?

Yes, this is voltage sag. The Zip's thermal print head draws a sustained current across the entire print pass, and if the cell can't hold voltage under that load, the print head cools slightly by the time it reaches the bottom of the sheet. The result is an uneven print that gets lighter toward the bottom edge. Ensure the battery is fully charged before printing, and avoid printing multiple sheets back-to-back until the cell has completed a few full charge cycles.

My Zip prints noticeably slower on battery than it did plugged into USB — is that normal?

Yes. When running on battery, the Zip firmware reduces the paper feed motor speed to prevent a sudden high-draw event from tripping the BMS on a low or degraded cell. On USB power, the printer draws directly from the adapter without that protection constraint, so it runs at full speed. After a full charge on the replacement cell, print speed should return close to USB levels — if it stays slow, let the battery complete two or three full charge-discharge cycles first.
