Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Proscenic Cocoa Smart 790T — 14.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery (VR1717)
This 14.8V 3400mAh (50.32Wh) Li-ion battery replaces part number VR1717 in the Proscenic Cocoa Smart 790T and 780T robotic vacuum cleaners, as well as the Summer P3 and Summer P2s models. It powers the vacuum's drive motors, suction fan, and onboard navigation system. Capacity figures come from the product specification — 3400mAh at 14.8V nominal.
- Multi-model fit — 790T, 780T, Summer P3, Summer P2s: These models share the same 14.8V battery platform, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. Swapping a battery across any of them does not require reconfiguration — the replacement cell presents the same communication profile the charger expects.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this battery through charge and discharge on the 790T platform. The BMS held voltage within spec under sustained motor load and cut off cleanly at the low-cell threshold rather than allowing an unbalanced deep discharge across the four-cell series string.
- Dock charging habit for the 790T: Do not leave the vacuum sitting on the charging dock permanently between cleaning cycles. Continuous trickle charging through the dock degrades cell capacity measurably faster than charging only when depleted, then removing the vacuum from the dock once full.
Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low
The 790T's suction fan motor draws significantly more current when the filter is partially blocked or the brush roll is restricted. That elevated draw pulls the cell voltage down under load faster than the battery indicator — which reads resting voltage — can reflect. The indicator still shows mid-charge while the motor is already operating in a voltage sag. Clean the filter and clear the brush roll first; if suction recovers, the battery is not the cause.
Motor cuts out mid-clean then restarts after a short pause
This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a dead battery. When sustained restricted airflow forces the motor to pull above the BMS current limit — typically triggered by a clogged filter or debris jam at the intake — the protection circuit opens and the vacuum shuts down. The BMS resets automatically after the cell temperature drops, which is why the vacuum restarts a minute or two later. Clear the blockage and verify filter condition before replacing the battery; the trip will repeat on a new cell under the same conditions.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Proscenic 790T runs for noticeably less time than it used to even after a full charge — what causes that?
Capacity fade in Li-ion cells accelerates when the vacuum is left on the dock continuously between uses — the charger maintains a trickle charge that stresses the cells over weeks. A partially blocked filter also forces the motor to draw more current than rated, burning through charge faster than normal. Check the filter first; if suction feels strong and runtime is still short, the cells have degraded. A replacement VR1717 cell restores rated 3400mAh capacity — charge to full, then remove from the dock rather than leaving it docked indefinitely.
The 790T's suction drops sharply partway through a clean but the battery light still shows plenty of charge — is the battery failing?
Not necessarily. The battery indicator reads resting cell voltage, which stays relatively high even as voltage sags under motor load. A restricted filter or brush roll jam forces the motor to draw excess current, pulling the working voltage down enough to reduce fan speed — while the indicator still reads mid-charge. Remove and clean the filter and clear the brush roll, then run a clean cycle. If suction holds steady throughout, the battery is fine; if it still drops on a clear filter, measure the pack voltage under load — it should hold above 13.2V during operation.
The 790T powers on but won't take a charge after fitting the new VR1717 battery — what should I check?
The charger expects a specific BMS handshake from the battery pack before it opens the charge circuit. If the replacement cell's BMS has not been initialised — which can happen when a cell ships in a deep-discharged state — the charger sees no valid handshake and stays off. Connect the battery to the charger and leave it for 20–30 minutes without interruption; some BMS units need a brief trickle to wake the protection circuit before normal charge begins. If the charger LED still does not indicate charging after that period, verify the dock contacts are clean and making firm contact with the vacuum's charge pins.
