Pullman PL-1016 — 14.4V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is a 14.4V, 1800mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Pullman PL-1016 cordless handheld vacuum. It slots into the same battery bay as the original and connects to the same charge circuit. Capacity matches the factory specification at 1800mAh (25.92Wh).

• PL-1016 fit: The PL-1016 runs a 14.4V Ni-MH cell pack with a fixed connector orientation. This replacement matches that voltage rail and connector, so the vacuum's motor controller sees the same handshake as the original cell.
• Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this battery through discharge and charge sequences on a Ni-MH test rig. The BMS held charge acceptance across repeated cycles and the cell pack showed no thermal anomalies under sustained motor load.
• Dock charging behaviour on the PL-1016: Do not leave the PL-1016 sitting on the charging dock continuously. Ni-MH cells on permanent trickle charge develop capacity fade faster than cells charged only when depleted. Charge to full, then remove from the dock.

Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low

This happens when motor draw climbs due to a restricted filter or partial blockage. The battery voltage sags under the higher load, and the motor controller throttles output before the indicator registers a low-battery state. The indicator reads charge level at rest, not under load — so a battery that looks fine at idle can still sag badly under a heavy draw. Clear the filter and check for blockages before replacing the battery.

Motor cuts out mid-use then recovers after a short pause

This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a flat battery. When suction is restricted — blocked filter, clogged nozzle — the motor pulls above its rated current to maintain airflow, and the BMS cuts power to protect the cell. The pack recovers once current normalises and the BMS resets. Clean the filter thoroughly, then test again; if the motor still trips on a clear filter, the original cell has degraded and this replacement will resolve it.
