Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Renkforce GX-111 — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (RF-350 6043)

This 3.7V, 1200mAh lithium-polymer cell replaces the original battery in the Renkforce GX-111 GPS navigator. It matches the OEM part number RF-350 6043 and fits directly into the GX-111 housing. Dimensions are 50.90 × 29.80 × 8.00mm — verify clearance before fitting if your unit has been previously serviced.

  • GX-111 fit: The GX-111 runs a single-cell Li-Polymer pack at 3.7V nominal. This cell matches that voltage rail, connector orientation, and physical footprint so no modification is needed at the battery bay.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell under a GPS navigation load profile — screen active, receiver polling, backlight on. The BMS held charge acceptance across full cycles without triggering premature cutoff.
  • Cold-start preparation after fitting: After installing this cell, take the GX-111 outdoors and power it on before your first trip. The unit performs a cold start after any full power loss. First satellite acquisition takes 5–10 minutes — subsequent warm starts drop to under a minute once ephemeris data is cached.

GPS accuracy reduced at low battery on the GX-111

When cell voltage drops toward the lower end of the discharge curve, some GPS units — including the GX-111 — reduce RF receiver sensitivity to conserve power. This shows up as position drift, increased HDOP values, or a reduced satellite count in the signal screen. It is not a firmware fault. Keeping the cell above 3.6V during active navigation maintains full receiver performance. If you see accuracy drop during a session, check the battery indicator — it will usually be at or below one bar.

GX-111 shutting off without a low-battery warning

After fitting a new cell, the GX-111's battery gauge may not be calibrated to the replacement cell's discharge curve. The unit reads voltage rather than true state-of-charge, so the visual warning can appear late — or not at all — before the BMS hits its cutoff threshold and shuts the device down. Run two full charge-and-discharge cycles to let the firmware recalibrate its voltage-to-percentage mapping. After that, the low-battery indicator should trigger at approximately 3.5V rather than at abrupt cutoff.

Frequently Asked Questions

My GX-111 lost all my saved routes after fitting the new battery — is that normal?

Yes. The GX-111 stores waypoints and routes in RAM that relies on continuous battery power to retain data. A full swap — where the cell drops to zero before removal — clears that memory. Before your next swap, export your routes to an SD card via the device's backup menu so they survive the power interruption.

The GX-111 is taking nearly 10 minutes to find a satellite fix after the battery replacement — is something wrong with the new cell?

Nothing is wrong. After any complete power loss, the GX-111 discards its cached almanac and ephemeris data and performs a cold start from scratch. That process takes 5–10 minutes outdoors with a clear sky view. Once the fix is acquired and the unit is powered down normally, subsequent warm starts return to under a minute.

The GX-111 drains noticeably faster when I'm actively navigating compared to when it's sitting idle — why?

Active navigation runs the GPS receiver continuously, keeps the display lit, and recalculates position several times per second. Standby or menu mode cuts receiver polling frequency and dims the screen. Reduce display brightness to the lowest usable level and enable the screen timeout in display settings — that combination reduces draw from the display circuit, which is the largest single consumer during active use.
