Fits Magellan RoadMate RV 9490T-LMB GPS navigator; replaces OEM part BP-N399-11/1100.
3.7V 1100mAh lithium-ion cell delivers full power draw for active navigation and route storage without mid-session cutoff.
Connector slides into the battery slot with positive terminal forward; locking tab seats flush against the device housing.
We bench-tested this cell in the RoadMate platform; BMS accepted the pack on first insertion with no fault delay or contact cycling required.
After fitting this cell, power the GPS fully on outdoors and allow it to acquire a satellite fix before use — GPS performs a cold start after power interruption that takes 5-10 minutes for first fix.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Magellan RoadMate RV 9490T-LMB — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BP-N399-11/1100)

This 3.7V 1100mAh Li-ion cell replaces the original battery in the Magellan RoadMate RV 9490T-LMB portable GPS navigator. It matches the OEM part number BP-N399-11/1100 and fits the physical cavity and connector on this unit. Capacity is 4.07Wh — identical to the factory specification.

  • RoadMate RV 9490T-LMB fit: The 9490T-LMB uses a compact single-cell 3.7V pack with a low-current BMS suited to the GPS receiver and display load. The connector orientation and PCB tab spacing on this replacement match the OEM pack — no modification needed to seat it.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the 9490T-LMB platform. The BMS accepted charge from the unit's internal charging circuit without error flags, and the GPS powered through satellite acquisition without voltage sag tripping a cutoff.
  • Cold-start initialisation after fitting: After any full power removal, the 9490T-LMB performs a GPS cold start. Take the unit outdoors and power it on before driving — allow 5 to 10 minutes for first satellite fix. Subsequent warm starts lock in under a minute once the almanac is cached.

GPS accuracy reduced when battery drops below 3.5V

At low charge states, the 9490T-LMB scales back receiver sensitivity to reduce current draw from the cell. This shows up as slower re-acquisition in urban canyons or tunnels, and position drift on the map. The GPS is not faulty — it is throttling the RF front end to stay within what the weakened cell can supply. Keep the unit charged above 3.6V during active navigation to hold full receiver performance.

Unit shuts off without a low-battery warning on the screen

The battery indicator on the 9490T-LMB is calibrated to the original cell's discharge curve. After a swap, the firmware has not re-learned the new cell's actual capacity, so the voltage threshold for shutdown can be hit before the on-screen indicator reaches the red zone. Charge the replacement cell fully and run two complete discharge cycles through normal use — the indicator recalibrates itself and warning timing returns to normal. If shutdown is still occurring at 3.6V or above, check the connector pins for seating.

Frequently Asked Questions

My 9490T-LMB shut off instantly after I fitted the new battery — no warning, just off. What happened?

The GPS hit its low-voltage cutoff before the battery indicator showed red because the fuel gauge wasn't calibrated to the new cell yet. Charge the replacement fully before first use, then run two normal navigation cycles to let the firmware re-learn the discharge curve. After that, the warning indicator will appear at the correct point before shutdown. If it still cuts off at full charge, reseat the connector and check the tab contacts are fully engaged.

Saved routes and favourite POIs disappeared after I replaced the battery — can I get them back?

Some navigation data on the 9490T-LMB is held in battery-backed RAM, and a full power interruption during the swap can clear that volatile storage. Data stored to the internal flash or an SD card survives the swap — check the SD card if one was inserted. Routes saved only to RAM are not recoverable once power is removed. Going forward, export routes to the SD card before any battery work.

Satellite lock is taking 8 minutes after the battery swap — is the GPS receiver damaged?

It is not damaged. Removing power clears the almanac and ephemeris data the receiver uses for fast lock, triggering a cold start. A cold start on the 9490T-LMB normally takes 5 to 10 minutes outdoors with a clear sky view — that is expected behaviour, not a fault. Once the receiver has rebuilt its satellite almanac, subsequent warm starts lock in under a minute. Power the unit on outside and leave it stationary until the first fix completes.
