Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Rover P7 — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (LIP1298MIPT)

This is a 3.7V, 1300mAh Li-Polymer battery for the Rover P7 pocket PC. It replaces OEM part LIP1298MIPT directly. The P7 is a handheld PDA used for computing and organisational tasks on the go.

  • Rover P7 platform fit: The P7 uses a flat Li-Polymer cell with a dedicated connector and BMS handshake tied to that voltage rail. This cell matches the original charge profile, so the device's power management firmware accepts it without flagging an incompatible cell error.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this battery through charge and discharge on the P7 platform. The BMS completed a full charge cycle without tripping low-voltage cutoff, and the device powered on cleanly from a cold start at each test.
  • RAM data protection before swap: Sync all open data to the host computer before removing the battery. The Rover P7 holds application state and open files in volatile RAM — that data is gone the moment battery power is cut, even briefly.

Rover P7 not booting after a new battery is installed

A freshly shipped Li-Polymer cell often arrives at partial state of charge — sometimes below the minimum voltage the P7's boot sequence requires. The device will not complete POST or may show a blank screen if the cell is below roughly 3.4V. Connect the P7 to its charger for at least 30 minutes before attempting a first boot. Once the cell reaches a stable charge above 3.6V, the boot sequence runs normally.

Battery life noticeably shorter during active scanning sessions

Wireless radio and scanner LED loads draw significantly more current than standby or basic computing tasks. On the P7, running both the wireless sync radio and the barcode scanner simultaneously can pull three to four times the standby current draw, accelerating voltage drop across the cell. If capacity fade appears faster than expected in warehouse or field scanning use, check that background sync tasks are not running concurrently with active scanning. Reducing radio polling frequency in the device settings lowers average draw and extends time between charges.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Rover P7 lost all my contacts and open notes after I swapped the battery — why?

The P7 stores active data and application state in SRAM, which is powered directly by the main battery. The moment battery power is removed, anything not written to flash storage is gone. Before pulling the battery, perform a full sync to your host PC using ActiveSync or Windows Mobile Device Center to push all data to persistent storage.

The Rover P7 shows a blank screen or won't turn on after fitting the new battery — what's wrong?

Li-Polymer cells ship at reduced charge, often below the minimum voltage the P7 needs to complete its boot sequence. Connect the device to its charger immediately after installing the battery and leave it for at least 30 minutes before pressing the power button. If the screen remains blank after charging, hold the power button for 10 full seconds to force a cold boot from the reset state.

Wireless sync keeps dropping on the P7 since I replaced the battery — is the new cell causing this?

The P7's wireless radio is voltage-sensitive and will throttle or drop its connection when the cell voltage sags under load. This usually means the battery has not yet completed a full charge cycle — a partially charged cell cannot sustain the current spike the radio demands during an active sync. Charge the device fully until the charge indicator clears, then reattempt the sync. If drops continue, confirm the battery voltage reads at or above 3.7V under the device's power settings screen before initiating a transfer.
