Fits Samsung Galaxy S Hercules and SGH-T989 models, replaces OEM battery EB-L1D7IBA.
3.7V and 3400mAh lithium-ion chemistry delivers full-day operation on standard Android load profiles.
Connector slides into the battery slot with positive terminal facing the device contact board.
We bench tested this cell on a Galaxy S II X — BMS accepted voltage curve immediately, no fault codes.
On first charge after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge cycle to let the fuel gauge IC recalibrate against the new cell discharge profile.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Samsung Galaxy S Hercules / SGH-T989 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (EB-L1D7IBA)

This is a 3.7V, 3400mAh Li-ion cell built to the EB-L1D7IBA specification for the Samsung Galaxy S Hercules, SGH-T989, and Galaxy S II X. It replaces a degraded or failed original battery and restores full power to the device. Capacity is rated at 12.58Wh.

  • SGH-T989 and Galaxy S II X compatibility: All three models share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — the EB-L1D7IBA slot accepts this cell without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through full charge and discharge cycles on the SGH-T989. The BMS communicated correctly with the charge IC and the fuel gauge IC registered capacity without fault flags.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first installation, disable fast charging and run one complete discharge-charge cycle at standard rate. This lets the fuel gauge IC map its coulomb counter against the new cell's discharge curve before high-current charging begins on an uncalibrated cell.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the SGH-T989

The SGH-T989 modem and display together pull enough current to cause a voltage cliff on a cell whose internal resistance has climbed. When the cell voltage drops below approximately 3.4V under that combined load, the BMS trips the protection circuit before the OS registers 0%. This is not a software bug — it is the BMS doing its job on a worn cell. Replacing the cell with a fresh EB-L1D7IBA rated unit and running one full calibration cycle eliminates the premature cutoff.

Phone reports wrong percentage after cell swap

The fuel gauge IC in the SGH-T989 stores a learned discharge curve from the previous cell. After swapping to a new cell, the IC applies that old curve to the new cell's voltage profile, producing percentage readings that jump or plateau incorrectly. The fix is one uninterrupted discharge from 100% down to automatic shutoff, followed by a full charge without interruption. After that single cycle, the coulomb counter resets its reference points to the new cell and percentage reporting stabilises.

Frequently Asked Questions

My SGH-T989 won't power on at all after the replacement battery sat in a drawer for months — is the cell dead?

The BMS locks out the cell when voltage drops below 2.5V per cell during storage, which is a hard protection trip, not a dead cell. Connect the phone to a wall charger — not a PC USB port — and leave it for 20–30 minutes without attempting to power on. The charge IC will trickle current into the cell until voltage clears the BMS lockout threshold, at which point the phone will boot normally.

The percentage reading jumps from 45% straight to 15% with no warning on the new battery — what's causing it?

This is the fuel gauge IC applying a discharge curve learned from the old, degraded cell to the new cell's different voltage profile. The coulomb counter loses accuracy mid-range where the two curves diverge most. Run one full uninterrupted discharge to automatic shutoff followed by a full charge — the IC resets its reference and the erratic jumps stop.

Fast charging stopped working after I put in the new battery — the phone only trickle charges now.

On the first cycle with a new BMS, the phone's charge IC sometimes falls back to trickle rate because it hasn't yet confirmed the BMS authentication handshake over the battery connector. Complete one full standard-rate charge cycle without interrupting it. On the next charge, plug in the original Samsung wall adapter — third-party chargers can fail the proprietary charge-rate negotiation — and fast charging will resume at the correct rate.
