Fits Samsung Galaxy S21 FE 5G, SM-G990B and SM-G990B/DS — replaces OEM battery EB-BG990ABY.
3.85V, 4200mAh Li-Polymer cell matches original capacity for full-day calling, messaging, and app use.
Connector slides straight into the battery slot beneath the midframe — no adapters, standard Samsung orientation.
We bench-tested the BMS against the fuel gauge IC during a full discharge cycle — no early cutoff, voltage curve tracks the original.
On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle so the fuel gauge IC recalibrates against the new cell's discharge curve before USB-PD pushes current into an uncalibrated pack.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Samsung Galaxy S21 FE 5G — 3.85V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (EB-BG990ABY)

This is a 3.85V, 4200mAh Li-Polymer replacement battery for the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE 5G smartphone. It replaces the original EB-BG990ABY cell and fits SM-G990B, SM-G990B/DS, and the Galaxy S21 Fan Edition 5G variants. Voltage and capacity match the original spec so the charge IC operates within its expected parameters.

  • SM-G990B and Fan Edition variants: All models in the S21 FE 5G line share the same 3.85V voltage rail, EB-BG990ABY connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — one cell fits the full range without hardware modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through a full charge-discharge cycle on an SM-G990B. The BMS accepted the cell without fault flags, charge IC engaged normally, and the coulomb counter tracked capacity through the full curve.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first use after installation, disable fast charging and complete one full discharge-charge cycle at standard speed. This lets the fuel gauge IC map the new cell's discharge curve before high-current fast charging pushes load into an uncalibrated cell.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell

This is a voltage cliff failure, not a capacity failure. The S21 FE 5G's modem and AMOLED panel draw bursts of current that cause the cell voltage to sag sharply at lower states of charge. If the fuel gauge IC is still calibrated to the old worn cell's curve, it misreads remaining charge and allows the device to run past the point the new cell can sustain voltage under that load. One full discharge-charge cycle at standard charge speed resets the coulomb counter against the new cell's actual voltage curve. After that cycle, shutdowns at 20–30% typically stop.

USB-PD fast charge not working on first cycle after replacement

Samsung's adaptive fast charge handshake between the charger and the phone's charge IC can fail on the first cycle after a cell swap because the BMS presents different impedance on a new, fully cold cell. The charge IC defaults to standard 5V input rather than negotiating a higher voltage rail. Plug in the supplied or original Samsung charger, let the phone charge to 100% at standard speed without interruption, then unplug and restart the device. On the second charge cycle, fast charge negotiation resumes normally.

Frequently Asked Questions

The S21 FE 5G shows 15% battery, then shuts off completely — is that the new cell failing?

No — this is the fuel gauge IC reading from the old cell's discharge curve after a swap. The phone's coulomb counter was calibrated to a degraded cell and doesn't know where the voltage cliff sits on the new one. Run one full discharge down to auto-shutdown, then charge uninterrupted to 100% at standard speed. After that cycle the gauge re-maps to the new cell and the premature shutdowns stop.

Battery percentage jumps from 45% up to 60% or drops 10% in seconds on the replacement cell — what's wrong?

The fuel gauge IC is recalibrating against the new cell's impedance profile and hasn't built a stable model yet. This is normal for the first two to three cycles after a cell swap on the S21 FE 5G. Avoid topping up in short bursts — let the phone run through complete discharge-charge cycles at standard charge speed. The erratic jumps settle once the coulomb counter has enough data points across the full voltage range, typically by cycle three.

Phone won't turn on at all after the replacement battery sat in a drawer for a few months — is the cell dead?

The BMS locks out the cell when voltage drops below approximately 2.5V per cell during storage — this is a protection cutoff, not a dead cell. Plug into a Samsung-original charger and leave it connected for 20–30 minutes without attempting to power on. The charge IC trickle-charges the cell back above the BMS unlock threshold, after which the phone will power on and charge normally. If the screen remains dark after 30 minutes, confirm the charger is delivering 5V by testing it on another device first.
