Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Samsung Galaxy S21+ — 3.86V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (EB-BG996ABY)

This is a 4700mAh Li-Polymer replacement battery for the Samsung Galaxy S21+ and Galaxy S21+ 5G. It fits SM-G996W, SM-G9960, and related SM-G996 variants. Voltage is 3.86V, matching the original cell specification.

  • SM-G996 variant compatibility: All SM-G996 models share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. The EB-BG996ABY part number covers the full S21+ lineup — regional variants differ only in radio bands, not power architecture.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell in an SM-G996W unit and confirmed the BMS accepted the charge IC handshake without error flags. The coulomb counter initialised correctly on the first full discharge cycle with no voltage cutoff anomalies.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first use after installation, disable fast charging and run one complete discharge-charge cycle at standard rate. This lets the fuel gauge IC map the new cell's discharge curve before high-current fast charging pushes current into an uncalibrated state.

USB-PD fast charge not working on the first cycle after replacement

After a cell swap, the S21+ charge IC sometimes refuses to negotiate USB-PD or the Samsung Adaptive Fast Charging protocol on the first cycle. The BMS on a fresh cell starts with a conservative charge profile until it completes one full handshake sequence with the phone's PMIC. This is not a fault — it is the cell's protection circuit running a first-cycle verification pass. Charge the phone once at standard 5W to completion, then fast charging will engage normally on subsequent cycles.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% after fitting a replacement cell

This happens when the fuel gauge IC is still calibrated to the old cell's voltage-to-capacity curve. The S21+ modem and display draw sharp current spikes, and if the gauge reports 25% but the actual cell voltage drops below the cutoff threshold under that load, the phone shuts off immediately. The fix is a full discharge to auto-shutdown followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% — this resets the coulomb counter against the new cell's actual capacity. After one complete cycle, the percentage readout stabilises and the shutdowns stop.

Frequently Asked Questions

My S21+ shows the wrong battery percentage after fitting the new cell — it jumped from 45% to 8% while sitting idle. What's happening?

The fuel gauge IC is still running the discharge curve it learned from the old, degraded cell. When a new higher-capacity cell is installed, the coulomb counter's stored calibration data no longer matches actual cell voltage at any given state of charge. Run one full discharge — let the phone shut itself off naturally — then charge to 100% without interruption and without fast charging enabled. After that single cycle the fuel gauge recalibrates and the percentage readout stabilises.

The phone won't turn on at all after the replacement battery sat uninstalled in a drawer for a few months — is the cell dead?

Li-Polymer cells self-discharge in storage, and if this one dropped below roughly 2.5V the BMS entered lockout mode to prevent cell damage. The phone will not power on from this state because the protection circuit blocks output until a trickle charge recovers the cell voltage above the reinitialisation threshold. Connect the phone to a wall charger — not a PC USB port — and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing the power button. Once the BMS detects sufficient voltage recovery it will reinitialise and the phone will boot or show a charge indicator.

The back of the S21+ gets noticeably warm near the battery during the first few charges with the new cell — is that normal?

A new Li-Polymer cell has higher internal impedance than a broken-in cell, so the charge IC works harder to push current through during the first few cycles. This raises heat output at the battery more than users are used to with a worn original cell. The warmth should reduce after three to five full charge cycles as the cell's impedance drops to its operating baseline. If the phone stays hot to the touch beyond cycle five or triggers an overheating warning, check that the battery connector is fully seated — a partially connected cell forces the charge IC to compensate with excess voltage.
