Fits Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom LTE and SM-C101 variants, replaces B740AE, B740AC, EB-K740AEWEG.
3.8V, 2100mAh Li-ion cell delivers 7.98Wh to sustain camera autofocus, flash recycling, and phone standby across full days.
Proprietary Samsung contact pins slot vertically into the battery compartment door; tab orientation is fixed and non-reversible.
We cycled this cell through ten full charge-discharge runs in the OEM charging cradle; BMS accepted handshake on first insertion with no fault indicators.
On first use in the S4 Zoom body, charge fully via the camera's micro-USB port before attempting flash operations—the camera's fuel-gauge firmware maps discharge curves during the initial charge cycle.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom — 3.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery (B740AE)

This 3.8V, 2100mAh Li-ion cell replaces the original B740AE battery in the Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom and SM-C101 / SM-C1010 variants. The S4 Zoom runs a combined smartphone and 10x optical zoom camera platform off one cell, which accelerates wear compared to a standard handset. Swap this in when the original no longer carries the device through a day of mixed shooting and calls.

  • SM-C101 and SM-C1010 platform fit: Both the standard S4 Zoom and the LTE variant share the same battery bay geometry, connector pinout, and BMS communication protocol — the B740AE fits both without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the SM-C101 body. The BMS accepted the cell on first insertion, reported state-of-charge correctly, and held the protection cutoff at the expected low-voltage threshold.
  • First-cycle conditioning on the S4 Zoom: Charge this cell fully inside the camera body before heavy shooting. The S4 Zoom's BMS calibrates its battery-percentage display against the first full charge cycle — skipping this step can cause the indicator to show inaccurate remaining charge for the first several uses.

Why the S4 Zoom drains a cell faster than a standard Galaxy S4

The S4 Zoom packs an optical zoom mechanism, a dedicated image processor, and optical image stabilisation into the same chassis that runs Android. All three draw from the same 2100mAh cell simultaneously during shooting. The zoom motor alone pulls a burst of current each time the lens extends or retracts. Add continuous autofocus and the rear display, and peak draw during active shooting is significantly higher than during normal phone use — even though the rated capacity is identical to many standard smartphone batteries of the same era.

Battery percentage jumping or freezing on the S4 Zoom display

This happens when the BMS has not yet mapped its internal voltage thresholds to the new cell's discharge curve. The original firmware calibration was set against the aged original cell, so a fresh replacement can read as 40% one moment and drop to 15% the next. Run two full charge-discharge cycles through the camera body without interrupting either cycle. After the second full cycle, the indicator typically stabilises — if it does not, check that the charge completes to 4.20V before disconnecting the charger.

Frequently Asked Questions

My S4 Zoom shows "No Battery" or won't recognise the new B740AE — what's wrong?

The S4 Zoom runs a BMS authentication check on first insertion, and a cell that hasn't been charged can fail that check and show as absent. Remove the battery, reinsert it firmly, then charge it fully inside the camera body using the OEM charger before powering on. If the body still rejects it, power cycle once with the battery seated and the charger connected — this resets the handshake and allows the BMS to re-initialise at a known voltage reference.

Shot count is noticeably lower than what the spec sheet suggests — why?

The rated capacity of 2100mAh is measured under a steady, controlled discharge load — not under the combined draw of the zoom motor, optical stabilisation, continuous autofocus, and the display running simultaneously. Each time the lens extends, the motor pulls a short current spike that the spec-sheet figure doesn't account for. Shooting in burst mode or using continuous zoom compounds this further. There is no fault with the cell — reduce zoom motor use between shots and the available charge per session increases measurably.

The S4 Zoom body gets noticeably warm during video recording — is the battery at fault?

The heat comes primarily from the image processor and sensor running continuously, not from the battery itself. Under sustained video, the combined draw from the processor, stabilisation system, and rear display pushes the cell to operate at a higher continuous discharge rate than still photography requires. If the body becomes hot enough to trigger a thermal warning, pause recording and allow the chassis to cool before resuming — the BMS will cut off discharge automatically if cell temperature exceeds its protection threshold, which on this platform is typically around 60°C internal cell temperature.
