Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Samsung Galaxy S8 Active — 3.85V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (EB-BG892ABA)

This is a 3.85V, 3900mAh Li-Polymer replacement battery for the Samsung Galaxy S8 Active smartphone. It fits SM-G892A and SM-G892U units, including the TD-LTE variant. Capacity is 3900mAh — identical to the OEM specification.

  • SM-G892A and SM-G892U compatibility: Both variants share the same battery bay geometry, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. The EB-BG892ABA cell works across all three S8 Active model numbers without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through full charge and discharge cycles on an SM-G892A unit. The BMS accepted the charge IC handshake on the first cycle, and protection circuits tripped correctly at low-voltage cutoff — no false overcurrent events during testing.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration after swap: On first use after installation, disable fast charging and run one complete discharge-charge cycle at standard rate. This lets the fuel gauge IC map the new cell's discharge curve before the coulomb counter locks in its reference points.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the S8 Active after a cell swap

This is a voltage cliff problem, not a capacity problem. A fresh Li-Polymer cell has a slightly different voltage-to-capacity curve than the aged cell the fuel gauge IC was calibrated against. When the modem fires at full power or the screen peaks brightness, the phone pulls a current spike the uncalibrated gauge cannot predict — voltage drops below the safe floor and the BMS cuts power before the reported percentage reaches zero. One full discharge-charge cycle at standard rate resets the coulomb counter against the new curve. After that, shutdowns at 20–30% typically stop.

USB fast charge not activating after battery replacement

The S8 Active's charge IC uses a handshake sequence on the first cycle to verify BMS parameters before enabling Adaptive Fast Charging. On a new cell, that handshake sometimes stalls — the charger falls back to standard 5V/1A and never steps up. To clear it, charge the phone to 100% via a standard charger, then power cycle the device completely. On the next charge session, reconnect the Adaptive Fast Charger — the BMS should complete the handshake and allow the voltage step-up to 9V.

Frequently Asked Questions

My S8 Active shows the wrong battery percentage after I put in this replacement — it jumped from 45% to 8% without warning. What's happening?

The fuel gauge IC on the S8 Active stores a discharge curve calibrated to the old cell. When the new cell is installed, the coulomb counter is working off the wrong reference data, which causes percentage jumps and early warnings. Run one full discharge — let the phone die completely — then charge uninterrupted to 100% without fast charging enabled. After that single cycle, the IC recalibrates against the new cell's actual curve and the readings stabilise.

The phone gets noticeably warm near the battery during the first few charges after installing this cell. Should I be concerned?

A new Li-Polymer cell has higher internal impedance than a broken-in one. During the first few charge cycles, the charge IC pushes current into that higher resistance, which generates more heat than you'd see with a used cell. It typically normalises after two or three full cycles as the cell's impedance drops. If the back stays hot past the third full charge, check that no adhesive from installation is trapping heat against the battery — clear airflow to the back cover is the fix.

My S8 Active won't power on at all after the replacement battery sat in storage for a few months before I installed it — completely dead, won't respond to the charger either.

Li-Polymer cells self-discharge in storage, and if the cell dropped below approximately 2.5V the BMS enters lockout mode to prevent damage — the phone won't respond to a charger because the BMS is blocking current input. Connect the phone to a wall charger (not a PC USB port, which may not supply enough current) and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing any buttons. Most BMS circuits on Samsung cells include a trickle-recovery path that slowly raises the cell voltage back above the lockout threshold before allowing normal charging to resume.
