Galaxy Tab A 8.0 shutting down at 15–25% remaining after battery replacement

This happens because the fuel gauge IC still holds calibration data from the old, degraded cell. The tablet interprets a voltage drop — caused by the combined load of the display and active WiFi — as a critically low state that triggers shutdown. The new cell actually has charge remaining at that point, but the gauge doesn't know it yet. One full discharge-to-shutoff followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% resets the calibration and resolves the early cutoff.

Fast charging unavailable on Galaxy Tab A 8.0 after swapping the battery

Samsung's adaptive fast charge protocol requires the charge IC and battery to complete at least one full accepted charge cycle before the device enables higher charge rates. Immediately after a swap, the tablet defaults to standard 5V charging as a precaution. Plug in using the original Samsung charger and cable, let the tablet charge fully without interruption, and fast charge should activate on the following charge cycle. If it still doesn't appear, verify the cable supports USB 2.0 data lines — charge-only cables block the USB-PD negotiation handshake.

My Galaxy Tab A 8.0 says 80% battery but shuts off immediately under load — is the new battery faulty?

The battery is not faulty. The fuel gauge IC calibrated itself to the worn-out original cell, so its voltage map no longer matches the new cell's discharge curve. Under the combined load of the display and WiFi, the tablet sees a voltage drop it incorrectly reads as empty and cuts power. Drain the tablet fully to automatic shutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100% — the gauge recalibrates and the shutdowns stop.

The battery percentage on my Galaxy Tab A 8.0 is jumping around after replacement — it dropped from 60% to 30% in minutes without heavy use.

Erratic percentage jumps after a battery swap are a fuel gauge drift issue, not a defective cell. The Samsung fuel gauge IC stores a learned discharge profile from the old battery, and that profile doesn't match the new cell's actual voltage curve. The numbers will appear unstable until the IC recalibrates. Run one complete cycle — discharge to automatic shutoff, then charge to 100% without interruption — and the percentage should stabilise within ±3%.

The Galaxy Tab A 8.0 feels warm near the charging port while charging with the new battery — should I stop charging?

Warmth near the charging port during the first few charge cycles is normal when a new lithium-polymer cell goes through its initial charge IC negotiation. The charge controller runs in constant-current mode at a higher rate until it learns the new cell's internal resistance, which generates more heat than a broken-in battery produces. Surface temperature up to around 38–40°C is within spec. If the tablet becomes hot to the touch or shows a temperature warning on screen, disconnect and let it cool before resuming.
