Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Samsung SCD20 / SCD21 / SCD23 / SCD24 Series — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (SB-L220)
This 7.4V 3000mAh (22.2Wh) Li-ion cell replaces the Samsung SB-L220 and its cross-reference part numbers including SB-L110, SB-L70A, SB-L70R, and SB-L70. It fits the Samsung SCD20, SCD21, SCD23, and SCD24 camcorders, along with over 38 additional Samsung digital video camera models sharing the same battery platform. Dimensions are 55.70 x 38.55 x 39.40mm — same physical envelope as the original.
- SCD-series platform compatibility: The SCD20 through SCD24 share a common battery bay geometry and voltage rail. Samsung used the same connector pinout and BMS handshake logic across this range, which is why one cell covers all four core models plus the extended compatibility list.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on SCD-series hardware. The BMS accepted the cell without fault flags, maintained stable voltage delivery through the discharge curve, and triggered the protection cutoff cleanly at the low-voltage threshold.
- First-use charge cycle on SCD camcorders: Insert the battery and run a full charge cycle through the camera body or Samsung OEM charger before your first recording session. Samsung's BMS on this series maps the battery-remaining indicator against a learned discharge curve — skipping this step causes the indicator to read inaccurately until the cycle completes.
Why the SCD20 shows a dead battery icon on a partially charged replacement cell
Samsung's SCD-series camera body reads remaining charge by mapping voltage against an expected discharge curve stored during prior cycles. A new cell hasn't established that curve in the camera's memory, so the indicator can display empty even when the cell is at 60–70% charge. This isn't a fault with the cell — it's the camera's gauge algorithm working with incomplete data. One full charge-to-discharge cycle through the camera body resets the mapping and brings the indicator into alignment.
Battery percentage jumping erratically during playback or recording
Erratic percentage readings on the SCD20 happen when the camera's voltage-threshold table doesn't match the actual discharge profile of the replacement cell. The OEM curve was calibrated to the original cell's internal resistance — a fresh replacement cell with lower internal resistance discharges slightly differently, causing the indicator to jump between readings. This resolves after one or two full charge cycles as the BMS recalibrates its thresholds. If jumping persists beyond three cycles, check that the terminal voltage after a full charge reads at or above 8.2V.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Samsung SCD20 shows the battery icon as empty right after I put in the new cell — is the battery faulty?
It isn't faulty. The SCD20 maps remaining charge against a discharge curve it learned from the previous battery. A new cell with no cycle history in the camera body looks like zero to the gauge algorithm. Run one full charge cycle through the camera body or OEM charger and the indicator will recalibrate. After that cycle, the display should track normally.
The battery percentage on my SCD camcorder jumps around — it reads 80%, then drops to 20%, then climbs back up mid-recording.
This happens because the replacement cell's discharge curve doesn't yet match the voltage-threshold table the camera stored for the original battery. The camera misreads the voltage steps and bounces between percentage brackets. Two or three full charge-discharge cycles through the camera body are enough for the BMS to recalibrate its thresholds. If it still jumps after three cycles, charge fully and confirm terminal voltage reads 8.2V or above at the battery terminals before recording.
My SCD20 records fine indoors but the battery drains noticeably faster when shooting in cold weather.
Li-ion cells lose available capacity as temperature drops — internal resistance rises and the BMS voltage floor is reached earlier in the discharge curve. At temperatures below 10°C, effective capacity can drop 15–25% compared to room-temperature performance. Keep the battery in an inside pocket between takes to hold it near body temperature. For cold-weather sessions, always start with a fully charged cell confirmed at 8.4V.
