Fits Samsung VP-X300, VP-X205L, SC-X220L camcorders; replaces SB-P120A, SB-P120ASL, SB-P120ABC, SB-P120ABK.
3.7V lithium-ion pack delivers 1200mAh capacity for standard video recording sessions on compact Samsung camcorder bodies.
Connector slides straight into the battery slot with a single locking tab; orientation marked on the housing.
We bench-tested this cell in a VP-X300 body; BMS accepted the pack on first insertion with no authentication fault.
On first charge inside the camera body, let the pack cycle fully before extended video shoots — Samsung camcorder firmware needs one charge cycle to map the new cell's discharge curve to the battery-remaining display.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Samsung VP-X300 / SC-X220L Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (SB-P120A)

This is a 3.7V, 1200mAh Li-ion replacement for the Samsung SB-P120A battery pack. It fits the VP-X300, VP-X205L, SC-X220L, and SC-X205WL camcorders, along with 17 additional models in this compact camcorder range. Capacity listed here matches the original specification — 4.44Wh.

  • VP-X300 and SC-X series compatibility: These models share the same 3.7V single-cell architecture, connector pinout, and BMS communication protocol. One cell fits the full range without modification or adaptor.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell in a VP-X300 body. The BMS accepted the cell on first insertion, charge termination triggered correctly at 4.2V, and the protection circuit tripped as expected under simulated over-discharge conditions.
  • First charge on the VP-X300: Charge this cell inside the camera body using the OEM charger on the first cycle. The VP-X300's battery management system reads the charge curve from inside the body on initial use — skipping this step can cause the remaining-battery indicator to display inaccurately for the first several sessions.

Why the VP-X300 battery indicator reads full then drops without warning

The VP-X300 maps its battery-remaining display to a voltage-threshold table calibrated for the original SB-P120A's discharge curve. A new replacement cell — even one matching the spec exactly — discharges at a slightly different rate until the camera's BMS builds a usage history. During the first few cycles, the indicator can jump from high to low without passing through mid-range. This is a mapping issue, not a cell fault. After three full charge and discharge cycles, the indicator typically stabilises and tracks the actual state of charge accurately.

VP-X300 showing "no battery" or rejecting a valid replacement cell on insertion

This happens when the camera's authentication check does not complete on first insertion — common with any new cell, including genuine replacements. The BMS expects to see a valid voltage handshake before it accepts the pack. Remove the battery, wait ten seconds, reinsert firmly, and then connect the charger without powering on the camera. Allow the charge LED to confirm an active charge state. If the camera still rejects the cell after one full charge cycle via the body, check that the gold contact tabs on the cell are fully seated against the camera's terminal block — even a 0.5mm misalignment can interrupt the circuit.

Frequently Asked Questions

My VP-X300 camcorder shows the battery percentage jumping around — it reads 80%, then drops to 20% a few minutes later. Is the replacement cell faulty?

The cell is almost certainly fine. The VP-X300's battery indicator maps voltage thresholds to percentage segments, and a new cell's discharge curve doesn't perfectly match the camera's pre-loaded reference table. The display stabilises after three to four full charge-and-discharge cycles as the BMS builds a local history. Run the battery down fully in the camera body, charge it completely, and repeat — the indicator should track correctly by the fourth cycle.

The VP-X300 feels noticeably warm during extended video recording sessions. Is that normal with this replacement?

Yes. The VP-X300 draws on the imaging sensor, recording processor, and LCD simultaneously during continuous video capture — that combined load generates heat at both the cell and the camera body. The cell itself will sit slightly warmer than during photo-only use, and that is within normal operating range. If the body becomes too hot to hold comfortably or the camera shuts down mid-recording, check that the ventilation area around the battery bay is unobstructed, and avoid recording in direct sunlight with the LCD at full brightness.

This replacement seems to deplete faster in cold weather than it did indoors — why?

Li-ion cells lose available capacity when ambient temperature drops below around 10°C. The electrolyte inside the cell becomes less conductive in the cold, which raises internal resistance and reduces the voltage the cell can sustain under load. The VP-X300's BMS interprets the resulting voltage sag as a lower state of charge and cuts the session short. Keep the spare cell in an inside jacket pocket before use — bringing it to body temperature before inserting it into the camera restores most of the rated capacity.
