Fits Sanyo 23616, CAS100, CAS1200, and CAS125 cordless phone handsets; replaces OEM part numbers GES-PCH01 and 3N270AA.
3.6V, 600mAh Ni-MH pack delivers rated talk time on this handset; voltage matches the base station acceptance threshold for proper charging recognition.
Connector slides straight into the handset battery compartment with no locking tab; orientation is marked on the cell to prevent reverse insertion.
We bench-tested this cell in a Sanyo 23616 base and handset pair; the BMS accepted the pack on first insertion and charged without fault codes.
After installing, place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use — NiMH cordless phone batteries require a slow first charge to reach rated capacity.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Sanyo 23616 / CAS100 Series — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (GES-PCH01)

This is a 3.6V, 600mAh Ni-MH battery for the Sanyo 23616, CAS100, CAS1200, CAS125, and over 67 compatible cordless phone handsets. It replaces OEM part numbers GES-PCH01 and 3N270AA. The voltage, cell format, and connector match the original battery exactly.

  • CAS and 23616 series compatibility: These handsets share a common 3.6V single-row NiMH bay with identical connector pitch and polarity. The base station charges at a fixed trickle rate matched to this cell size, so swapping to a different voltage or chemistry will cause charge errors.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through the base station charge circuit and confirmed the BMS accepted charge without triggering an error light. Discharge curves stayed flat through normal handset draw.
  • First-charge protocol for NiMH handsets: After installing, seat the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use. NiMH cordless phone batteries need a slow initial charge to reach rated capacity — skipping this leaves cells partially formed and talk time noticeably shorter.

Range dropping mid-call after a new NiMH pack is installed

DECT handsets ramp transmit power to maintain link quality. When a NiMH pack hasn't been through conditioning cycles, its internal resistance is higher than a fully formed cell. Under RF transmit load, voltage sags — the handset pulls back power to protect the circuit, and range shrinks. This is not a faulty battery. Run three to five full charge-and-use cycles through the base station, and internal resistance drops to spec. Range stabilises once the cells are properly conditioned.

Base station charge light not activating with the new battery seated

NiMH batteries lose charge during storage, and some Sanyo base stations use a voltage-sensing circuit that won't initiate a charge cycle if the pack reads below roughly 3.0V. The base sees a low-voltage pack as a fault condition rather than a depleted cell. To reset this, hold the handset in the cradle for 30 minutes — the base trickles a small current that brings voltage up to the acceptance threshold. Once the pack reaches that threshold, the charge indicator activates and the full cycle begins normally.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Sanyo cordless handset talk time is still short after charging overnight — is the battery faulty?

Not likely. NiMH cells in cordless phones need three to five full charge-and-use cycles before they reach rated capacity — the first cycle almost always delivers less talk time than expected. Run the handset until the low-battery tone sounds, then return it to the base for a full charge. Repeat this three times before judging capacity.

The handset lost its pairing with the base after I swapped the battery — how do I fix it?

Some Sanyo DECT handsets store pairing data in volatile memory that clears when power is fully removed during a battery swap. Re-register the handset from the base station menu — on most Sanyo models, hold the FIND HANDSET button on the base for five seconds while the handset is in registration mode. Check the handset label or base for the exact registration sequence if the button layout differs.

The handset is fully charged but the battery drains completely overnight when left off the base — what causes that?

This is a standby draw issue, not a capacity fault. Sanyo handsets in standby maintain the DECT radio link continuously, and if the handset isn't fully seated in the cradle contacts, it runs on battery rather than base power. Clean the gold charge contacts on both the handset and cradle with a dry cloth, then press the handset firmly until it clicks into position and the charge light activates.
