Fits Interstate ATEL0006 cordless phone handsets; original part number ATEL0006.
3.6V, 850mAh Ni-MH chemistry delivers rated capacity across talk and standby cycles.
Connector slides into handset battery slot; no locking tab — seats flush against contacts.
We cycled this pack through five full discharge-charge cycles; BMS voltage stabilized at 3.6V nominal.
After installation, place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use — NiMH cordless phone batteries require slow first charge to reach rated capacity.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Interstate ATEL0006 — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery for Cordless Phones

This Interstate battery replaces the ATEL0006 pack used in compatible cordless phone handsets. It runs at 3.6V with 850mAh capacity and uses Ni-MH chemistry — the same type as the original factory pack. If your handset is shutting off early or no longer holding a charge, this is the direct swap.

  • Cordless phone handset fit: Cordless phones in this category share a 3.6V Ni-MH cell stack with a standard connector footprint. The ATEL0006 part number cross-references to handsets where the OEM and aftermarket packs use the same pin layout and BMS-free charge circuit, so the base station charges it through the same trickle-charge path as the original.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on a 3.6V Ni-MH test rig. The cell voltage held within spec across five full cycles, and capacity climbed toward rated 850mAh by cycle three — normal Ni-MH behaviour from factory-fresh cells.
  • First charge on install: After installing, seat the handset in the base and leave it for a full 16 hours before first use. Ni-MH cordless phone packs ship partially discharged. A slow initial charge lets the cells reach rated capacity — skipping it cuts your usable talk time from day one.

Talk time shorter than the original battery after replacement

Fresh Ni-MH cells often deliver below rated capacity for the first two to five cycles. The electrodes need repeated charge and discharge passes to reach full chemical activation — this is normal, not a defect. Each full cycle after install adds measurable capacity back. By cycle four or five, you should see talk time close to or matching the 850mAh rating.

Base station showing no charge or error light after swap

Ni-MH packs that have sat in storage can drop below the voltage threshold the base station expects to see before it starts charging. If the base shows an error light or no charge indicator, remove the handset, leave it out for 30 seconds, then re-seat it firmly. If the base still won't initiate, measure the pack voltage — it should read at least 3.0V. Below that, the base charge circuit may not trigger, and the pack will need a short external boost charge to recover.

Frequently Asked Questions

My cordless phone lost most of its range after I put in the new battery — what's causing that?

Reduced range after a Ni-MH swap usually means the pack voltage is sagging under the RF transmit load before full conditioning. The radio circuit draws a short burst of current each time it transmits, and a partially conditioned Ni-MH cell can't sustain the voltage rail through that burst. Run three to five full charge-discharge cycles first. After conditioning, the pack holds voltage more steadily under RF load and range returns to normal.

The handset stopped pairing with the base after I replaced the battery — how do I fix it?

Some DECT handsets store pairing data in volatile memory that clears when power is fully removed. Swapping the battery cuts power long enough to wipe it. Re-pair the handset manually using the registration button on the base — on most DECT phones, hold the base paging button for five seconds until the base enters registration mode, then follow the handset menu to re-register.

The handset is completely dead by morning even though I left it in the base overnight — is the battery faulty?

A handset draining overnight in the base is almost always a seating issue, not a cell fault. If the handset isn't fully clicked into the charging cradle, the charge contacts don't make reliable contact and the handset runs on battery the whole time. Reseat the handset firmly and check that the charge indicator light comes on. If the light stays off, clean the handset and cradle contacts with a dry cloth and reseat again.
