Fits GP85AAALH3BXZ cordless phone handsets; replaces original 3.6V Ni-MH pack directly.
3.6V, 850mAh capacity delivers full talk time on DECT cordless phones without mid-call fade.
Connector slides straight into handset battery slot with positive terminal facing the contact springs.
We charged this pack through three full cycles on a standard DECT base — BMS accepted voltage signature without error codes.
After installing, seat the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use — Ni-MH cells reach rated capacity only after a slow first charge cycle.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

GP GP85AAALH3BXZ — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is a 3.6V 850mAh Ni-MH battery pack that replaces the GP85AAALH3BXZ cell used in GP cordless DECT phones. It restores wireless operation to handsets that no longer hold a charge. Capacity is 850mAh (3.06Wh), matching the original specification.

  • GP85AAALH3BXZ platform fit: These cordless handsets share a matched voltage rail and connector format tied to the 3.6V three-cell AAA Ni-MH configuration. The base station charger circuit expects this chemistry and voltage window — swapping to a different chemistry type will cause charging errors or cell damage.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on a DECT handset base. The BMS accepted the cell without triggering error states, and charge current tapered correctly at full capacity across three consecutive cycles.
  • First charge after installation: Place the handset in the base for a full 16 hours before first use. Ni-MH cells in cordless phones arrive from storage at reduced charge. The slow overnight charge lets the base station's trickle circuit bring each cell to rated voltage evenly before active use.

Talk time shorter than the original battery after replacement

Ni-MH cells do not deliver full rated capacity on the first charge cycle. The electrochemical structure needs three to five full charge-discharge cycles before it reaches 850mAh. If talk time feels short after day one, that is expected behaviour — not a fault. Run the handset until the low-battery indicator triggers, return it to the base for a full 16-hour charge, and repeat for up to five cycles.

Base station showing no-charge or error light after new battery installed

A Ni-MH pack shipped from storage can sit below 3.0V total — low enough that some DECT base circuits reject the charge handshake. The base reads the voltage, flags it as a fault, and stops pushing current. Remove the handset, leave it out for 30 seconds, then re-seat it firmly in the base cradle. If the error persists, check that the gold contacts on the battery and handset are clean and making full contact — oxidation on those pads breaks the circuit before voltage even registers.

Frequently Asked Questions

My GP cordless handset lost its pairing to the base after I swapped the battery — how do I get it back?

Some DECT phones drop their pairing registration when power is fully removed, because the handset RAM clears during the swap. This is a firmware behaviour, not a battery fault. Re-register the handset using the pairing or registration button on the base station — usually held for 3–5 seconds until the base indicator flashes. Check your handset manual for the exact button sequence, as the step varies by model.

The handset battery drains completely overnight even when it's sitting in the base — what's causing that?

This points to a seating issue rather than a cell fault. If the handset is not fully clicked into the cradle, the charge contacts do not make consistent contact and the phone runs on battery instead of being topped up. Re-seat the handset and confirm the charging indicator light activates. If the drain continues with confirmed contact, clean the charge pins on both the handset and base with a dry cloth — residue on the contacts raises contact resistance enough to interrupt trickle charging.

Range dropped noticeably after fitting the new battery — the old one reached further around the house. Why?

A Ni-MH pack not yet fully conditioned shows voltage sag under RF transmit load. DECT radio circuitry draws a short burst of current every time the handset transmits — if the cell voltage sags during that burst, the transmit power output drops and range shrinks. Complete three to five full charge-discharge cycles to bring the pack to rated capacity. After conditioning, measure whether the handset holds 3.6V under active call load — if voltage drops below 3.2V during a call, the cell has not yet reached full capacity.
