Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Sanyo Xacti VPC-A5 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (DB-L30)
This is a 3.7V, 700mAh Li-ion replacement cell for the Sanyo Xacti VPC-A5 compact digital camera. It replaces OEM part numbers DB-L30 and DB-L30A. Use it when the original cell no longer holds a charge or has degraded past useful capacity.
- VPC-A5 cell format: The DB-L30 and DB-L30A share the same physical dimensions (47.50 × 15.40 × 15.00mm), voltage rail, and connector orientation. Both OEM part numbers fit the same battery bay without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the VPC-A5 body and confirmed the BMS accepted the cell after one full charge from within the camera. Voltage under combined sensor and processor load held steady above the low-battery cutoff threshold throughout the test.
- First-use cycle on the VPC-A5: Run the first charge from inside the camera body using the OEM charger or USB method — not a third-party external charger. The VPC-A5 BMS maps its battery-remaining display against the cell's discharge curve during that first cycle, and skipping it causes the indicator to read inaccurately from the start.
Battery percentage jumping erratically on the VPC-A5 display
The VPC-A5 estimates remaining charge by mapping display thresholds to a stored discharge curve from the original cell. A new DB-L30 replacement has a slightly different discharge curve shape, so the camera's percentage readings can jump or stall at certain thresholds. This is not a fault in the cell — it is a calibration mismatch. Run two to three full charge-discharge cycles through the camera body and the indicator will settle. After calibration, the display should track smoothly down from 4.2V to the cutoff at approximately 3.0V.
VPC-A5 showing dead battery icon immediately after installing a new cell
Some Xacti bodies trigger a low-voltage flag if a replacement cell arrives with a partial factory charge below the camera's recognition threshold. The BMS reads insufficient voltage and refuses to boot rather than drawing down an already-low cell. Remove the battery, place it in the OEM charger for a full charge cycle, then reinsert. If the camera still shows the dead battery icon after a confirmed full charge, check the contact pins on the battery door for oxidation and clean them with a dry cloth before retesting.

Frequently Asked Questions
The VPC-A5 shows the battery icon as empty right after I put in the new DB-L30 — is the replacement dead?
It is not dead. Replacement cells often ship with a partial charge that sits below the voltage threshold the VPC-A5 needs to recognise a valid cell. Charge the battery fully in the OEM charger before inserting it into the camera body. If the camera still refuses to boot after a confirmed full charge, clean the battery door contact pins with a dry cloth and reinsert — oxidation on those contacts causes the same symptom.
The battery percentage on my VPC-A5 jumps from 80% straight down to 20% without warning — what's wrong?
Nothing is wrong with the cell. The VPC-A5 maps its percentage display to a discharge curve stored from the original Sanyo cell, and a replacement DB-L30 has a slightly different curve shape at mid-charge voltages. The indicator loses its reference points and skips between thresholds. Run two to three full charge-discharge cycles through the camera body and the display will re-anchor itself to the new cell's actual curve.
My VPC-A5 drains the new DB-L30 faster during video recording than during still photography — is that normal?
Yes, and the gap is significant. During video, the VPC-A5 runs the sensor, image processor, and recording circuitry simultaneously at sustained load, pulling considerably more current than a single still-capture burst. The 700mAh cell is the same capacity as the original, so any difference you notice compared to still shooting reflects the real draw difference between modes — not a fault in the replacement. If the cell depletes unusually fast even during still shooting, check that the LCD brightness is not set to maximum, as screen draw on this body adds measurable load to a 700mAh cell.
