Sanyo Xacti VPC-E10 / DMX-E10 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (DB-L70)
This is a 3.7V 680mAh Li-ion cell for the Sanyo Xacti VPC-E10 and DMX-E10 compact camcorders. It replaces OEM part numbers DB-L70, DB-L70A, and DB-L70AU. The cell slots into the same battery compartment and connects through the same three-contact interface as the original.
- VPC-E10 and DMX-E10 compatibility: Both models share the same battery bay dimensions, contact layout, and BMS communication protocol. The DB-L70 form factor — 38.20 × 26.82 × 7.34mm — is specific to this compact Xacti body and does not cross to other Sanyo Xacti lines.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through the Xacti charge cycle using the OEM charger. The BMS accepted the cell, completed a full charge to 4.2V, and the camera reported battery status correctly on the display without fault flags.

The Xacti E10 BMS maps its battery-remaining display against a discharge curve it calibrates on first charge — skipping this step causes the indicator to jump erratically or cut off early.
Why the Xacti E10 battery indicator drops suddenly during sustained video recording
The E10 draws on the sensor, image processor, and storage write circuits simultaneously during video capture. This combined load pulls more current than still-photo use, causing a steeper voltage sag mid-discharge. The camera's fuel gauge reads that sag as a larger capacity drop than has actually occurred. Once recording stops and current draw falls, the displayed level often recovers slightly — the cell still has charge, but the indicator hasn't re-mapped.
Battery percentage jumping to empty then back up on the Xacti E10
This happens when the camera's BMS hasn't completed its discharge-curve calibration against the new cell. The original firmware threshold table was built around the aged discharge profile of the old OEM cell, not a fresh one. A fresh Li-ion cell holds a flatter voltage plateau longer before dropping, which the uncalibrated BMS misreads as a sudden cliff. Run one full charge-to-discharge cycle inside the camera body — charge to 4.2V via the camera, then let it discharge through normal use — and the indicator stabilises.

My Xacti E10 shows a dead battery icon immediately after I put in the new DB-L70 — is the cell faulty?
The E10's BMS runs an authentication and state-of-charge check the first time it sees a new cell, and a cell that arrives partially discharged often fails that initial check. Put the battery in the OEM charger or directly in the camera body and charge it fully before powering the camera on. Most "dead battery" indicators on first insert clear after one complete charge cycle. If the icon persists after a full charge, check that the three contacts on the battery and inside the bay are clean and making full contact.
The E10's shot count feels way lower than I expected — I'm not getting anywhere near what the original battery gave me.
A fresh replacement cell at 680mAh matches OEM capacity, but shot count depends on more than capacity. Sustained video recording, the LCD running at full brightness, and frequent zoom use all draw significantly more current than spec shot counts assume. Cold ambient temperatures also compress the usable voltage window on Li-ion cells, which cuts effective capacity before the BMS hits its low-voltage cutoff. For maximum shot count, dim the LCD and limit zoom motor movement between clips — those two changes reduce average draw noticeably.
After the Xacti E10 sits unused for a few weeks, the battery level reads much lower than when I put it away — is something draining it?
Li-ion cells at 680mAh self-discharge slowly even with no load, but the E10 also draws a small standby current from the battery when the camera is off — the clock and firmware state are maintained. Over several weeks that standby draw adds up. If the camera will sit unused for more than two weeks, remove the battery and store it separately. Before your next shoot, top the cell back up to 4.2V in the OEM charger — starting a shoot from a partially self-discharged state can also cause the battery indicator to read low until the BMS re-establishes its reference point.
