Fits Sena 50R V1 wireless headset; replaces OEM part YT731958P.
3.7V, 800mAh lithium-polymer cell delivers the energy needed for Bluetooth connectivity, speaker output, and microphone transmission on extended rides.
Connector slides straight into the battery compartment with a single locking tab; orientation marked on the housing.
We charged this cell through the Sena base station dock and confirmed the BMS handshake completed on first insertion without error codes.
On first use, charge the headset in the base station for a full cycle before taking a call — DECT headsets require the base to log the new cell before talk-time estimates stabilize.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Sena 50R V1 — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (YT731958P)

This 3.7V, 800mAh lithium-polymer cell replaces the original battery in the Sena 50R V1 motorcycle communication headset. It powers the unit's Bluetooth radio, speakers, and microphone. OEM part number YT731958P confirms direct fitment to V1 hardware only — not the 50R V2.

  • 50R V1 platform fitment: The V1 and V2 share a similar housing but use different cell dimensions and BMS handshake protocols. This cell measures 59.30 × 18.50 × 7.50mm and communicates with the V1 charge management circuit specifically. Installing a V2 cell in a V1 unit will result in a charging error or no charge acknowledgement from the base station.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through full charge and discharge cycles on a V1 unit. The BMS accepted the pack without error, and the base station reported correct charge state. Cell voltage at rest held at 3.82V after conditioning — within normal Li-polymer float range.
  • Base station first-cycle logging: On first install, seat the headset in the base station and let it complete one uninterrupted full charge before use. The V1 base logs the new cell during this cycle to calibrate its talk-time indicator. Pulling the headset before that cycle completes can cause the indicator to read inaccurately for several weeks.

Why the 50R V1 cuts out mid-call on a new battery

The 50R V1 draws current simultaneously from its Bluetooth radio and audio amplifier during calls. On a freshly installed cell that hasn't completed its first full cycle, internal resistance is slightly elevated and the combined draw can trigger a momentary BMS undervoltage cutoff. This presents as a brief dropout or a full unit reset mid-conversation. Running two to three complete charge and discharge cycles through the base station brings internal resistance down and resolves the dropout behaviour.

Base station shows full charge but headset shuts off after a few minutes

A replacement cell ships at storage voltage — typically around 3.6–3.65V — not at full charge. If the base station's charge detection circuit reads this voltage as "charged" before completing a proper cycle, it will display a false full indicator. The headset then shuts off quickly because the cell was never fully topped up. Place the headset in the base, confirm the charge LED is active rather than static, and allow a complete charge cycle to finish before use. After that cycle, the base station will read and display charge state accurately.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Sena 50R V1 keeps cutting out mid-call even with the new battery installed — what's causing it?

The V1 pulls current from its Bluetooth radio and audio amp at the same time during a call, and a new cell with slightly elevated internal resistance can dip below the BMS cutoff threshold under that combined load. It's not a faulty battery — it's a conditioning issue. Run two to three full charge and discharge cycles through the base station before your next ride. After those cycles, resting cell voltage should stabilise above 3.80V and the dropouts should stop.

The base station is flashing a charging error after I installed the replacement cell — how do I fix it?

This happens when the BMS handshake between the new cell and the V1 base station doesn't complete on the first seating. Remove the headset from the base, wait 10 seconds, and reseat it firmly until you hear the magnetic click. If the error persists, hold the headset's power button for 10 seconds to force a full shutdown, then reseat it. The base station should then initiate the charge cycle and clear the error.

Talk time is noticeably shorter than the original battery after I replaced it — is the new cell undersized?

The cell is the correct 800mAh capacity for the 50R V1 — short talk time on early cycles is a normal Li-polymer characteristic, not a capacity defect. New lithium-polymer cells don't reach full usable capacity until they've been through three to five complete charge and discharge cycles. Each cycle, the electrolyte fully wets the electrode surfaces and effective capacity increases. By cycle five, talk time should be at or near the original battery's performance.
